Unfortunately for you my friend, being barely 18 and not having any credit history is not the ideal situation for getting a "really good deal". You will probably rate as a "Smart Access" customer, which is a special credit class for people who have no credit history. If that is the case, you won't have to pay a deposit, but you may have to pay a $75 activation fee up front instead of the normal $35 on your first bill. Or, you may just have the normal actiavation fee. However, there are a couple of other restrictions... first of all your account will have a spending limit of $150, meaning that if at any time your bill reaches that amount, your service will be shut off until you pay some of it off. You will also only be eligible for a sin...

Since you're shopping around, let me give you a little info. I work for Cingular, and have seen no credit deposits as low as $150. After paying that you would have no rate plan restictions, no billing caps, and would qualify for two year pricing on phones as a new customer. You mentioned our MEdia plans, yes they ROCK! And our Nation GSM plans feature unlimited M2M and unlimited N&W on most plans. Handset selection is excellent as well. For camera phones, among others, we have the Moto V400, exclusive to us, the Moto V600, Samsung P107, and Sony Ericsson 637.

Check with a local Cingular rep, and they'll be able to show you what coverage is like in areas you may concerns in. Hope this helps.

Actually Cingular rep pimp whatever you are...your company does offer deposits lower than $150, say for instance $100. You're not a very good rep are you?

Actually I apologize for the negative remark and hopefully I'm forgiven. I worked for Cingular and have seen deposit as low as $100, it seems in different situations they may be a little more lenient on credit, as so I've seen.

Ricotati,

I too work for Cingular (North Texas region). Phonepimp is correct. Our deposits can be $150, $300, $500, $750, or $800. After 9 months, I have not seen a deposit under $150, wait, yes I have......it was $0. Now get YOUR **** together. We know what we are talking about!

Ok to the KnowItAlls...

A security deposit can range from X amount to X amount based on the customer's credit history.

Soooooo... based on that known fact, imnotseen4u just check with your friends and family that has service and see what's best in your area. Just like anything else in life, nothing is perfect, just suitable to one's liking.

Now that's an unbiased solution, even from sales rep 🙂
