Nokia 3660

Does anyone have any info on this phone's release? There's a training doucment on the SOT website with every piece of info on this phone, including pricing and rebate. It lists the launch date as 5/12 for indirect and TBD for direct, which seems odd and backward, not to mention the fact that I haven't heard a whisper about it elsewhere? Anybody else know?

May 12 in some T-Mobile stores, then gradually to everyone.

They are basing it on the amount of 3650 each store sells. The more you have or will sell, you will be the first to get it, according to my RM.

If they are basing the release on how many 3650 you sell, then I should be getting my 3660's by about 2011. Don't get me wrong, I love the phone, but I have a hard time talking people into it. The high price tag (before rebate) and the funky looks just seem to turn people off right away. Sometimes I try to talk them into that phone just for the challenge. Maybe I've been doing something wrong, because it only ever sells to real tech geeks.

They are really pushing for the leftover 3650s to be depleted before any mass shipping. I have a hard time selling it myself because customers are turned off by the keypad and the bulky look. I even try to emphasize all of the features and benefits, but its hard when that big block of phone is just sitting there with the weird keypad. Don't get me wrong, its a nice phone but the form factor sucks. Now the 6600 has pretty much the same specs, just a smaller size. But the intro price is pretty much, most are waiting for a rebate with it (hopefully sometime soon).

Yeah, like I said, it makes me kind of sad that more people can't get past the external stuff. I used it for a little while, and it was a great phone. The 3660 is going to have the same price point, but back to the $150 rebate; still not a bad deal at all. I have a 6600 sitting around my store, but so far not a lot of interest yet. I've got it priced at $359. I think it needs both a price drop and a rebate. It's a neat piece of technology, but the fact is that very few people roll out that much bank for a phone here in the U.S., especially after they have been trained that even the nicest, highest tech phones are supposed to be dirt cheap. Thanks Amazon.com!

I do most of my business with students and soccer moms. Students like to cool stuff but don't have the money; soccer moms probably have the money but not the interest. I get really excited when somebody comes into my store and starts asking "tech" questions and gets excited about the high end handsets. It makes my job a lot more fun than the normal "here, this is the one that is free."

I get my fair share of the "techies" in my Circuit. It's nice to shoot the breeze with someone who knows what he's talking about and what he wants. But the "I want this free phone" people FAR outnumber the techies...even at Circuit City.

I was in a Circuit City here in Oregon and I was wandering around the wireless department. I had to really hold my tongue, because some college girl working there with absolutely NO idea what she was talking about was filling some poor guy full of crap about Verizon. It's funny, because I always want to check out the phone sections of other stores when I'm shopping, but then when I'm there it kills me to mind my own business. I was actually surprised, because it seems like most of the CC employees who post on here are pretty knowledgable. I assumed that they train you guys pretty well, but this particular instance was painful to listen to. 🙂

Oh Man I LOVE going into the competitors' stores. I won't name any names but I went into a store while I was at the mall one day and I wasn't even acknowledged (mind you I lingered around looking at their plans for a good 3 minutes). Typically they train us to acknowledge a customer within the first 30 seconds. I even walked out and no one said anything.

P.S. no other customers were in the store.

About the 3660, I will have a better time selling those all because of the keypad. That's one less physical con customers will initially see.

At Circuit we have the "10 foot 30 second rule".
