3 week temp phone
Help, I live overseas but am returning to NYC for a couple weeks to take care of the apartment I rent out (which will be empty and have no phone service). I also really need the wireless internet service they offer at Kinko's and Starbucks. If I just walk into a tmobile store will they be able to take care of me, or will my foreign address, etc. throw them off?
Ideally, I'd like to get their prepaid plan with 60 minutes for $69.99, but there doesn't appear to be an option for internet service with that plan. Of course their basic nationwide plans are cheaper (and internet $19.99/mo. vs. $29.99/mo.) but it requires a year contract.
Tmobile also offers a GSM Worldclass phone rental for $79/mo. Is that something I can pick up at a Man...

Okay, HotSpot service is no problem as long as you have a 80211.b network card, you get onto T-Mobile.com and you can sign up for the service on a daily or month to month basis with a credit card. 9.99 for a day pass, 39.99 per month, unlimited use.
If you have an unlocked GSM phone that handles 1900 Mhz you can pick up a prepaid SIM at a dealer and load minutes as necessary. Phones turn up pretty cheap on EBay... 🙄

Watch out for those E-Bay phones. Half of them are either stolen or don't work worth ****.
