Tmobile ranked 2nd out of the top 7 carriers right behind Verizon in reception.. The worst ranked provider is Nextel. See the data for your self.
Go to: http://www.wirelessreview.net/stats.jsp . Now this data is based on overall statistics. The info might not apply in your area. So please do not post anything saying that this company worked better than that company, and say that this info is incorrect "blah, blah, blah". I read it all the time. Companies works better in different areas. But overall statistically this is the ranking in reception and breakdowns.

i tend to ignore those and go by local info only. even the crap from consumer reports can be made to go in a direction they would want (all you need to do is pick or keep markets that are known to be better for certain carriers then others and viola!).

Yeah thats true. But you can't say that this info was based on a certain area. It could be based on several major areas. I wish the data could have explained what cities were they in when they did the testing. Thats why I said that this information could be more relevant in your area than it is in mine or visa-versa. More likely they tested the cell providers in more than one city. Some people think Sprint should be in the bottom but some may think...

🙂 I could not have said it any better myself having been through the hellish experiences I've had till I landed with a T-Mobile handset.

T MObile = Teen Mobile.

This company seems to market to the teen and early 20 set. There coverage is geat when local but is negligant when on the road say on 40 crossing the border into New Mexico...Thats why free roaming...no roaming.

Great Carrier if you don;t leave your home area much!

I have left the state of TX to go to several places and never lost coverage at all so your argument there holds no value whatsoever! Also, I put myself higher than the 20 plus age category that you put it that T-Mobile advertises to.

Just admit it that they offer services for less money than the other carriers.

Well thats not always true. Tmobile covers about %95 of USA's major high ways/streets. So if you like to travel on major highways you're in good shape. Plus, tmobile hasn't been out as long as these other carriers so you know that their coverage area isn't going to be as good as others. Most people don't even travel out in the boonies. But, if tmobile keeps growing rapidly like they have in th past ...

I think T-Mobile put up something like 3500 new towers last year, and they had planned 4500 more for this year. They are the fastest growing wireless company in the U.S. in terms of new subscribers. I have both T-Mobile and Verizon phones, which most people would consider to be on opposite ends of the coverage spectrum, but there is almost nowhere that I go on a regular basis where Verizon covers and T-Mobile doesn't. I actually end up using my T-Mo phone more often. It's true that if you drive major highway or interstate corridors, or if you tend to fly around to mostly populated areas, T-Mobile's service will serve you well. Most of the people who knock them on this website really don't know jack about it, or they are repeating their ...

TMo may have the must gross adds in the industry but they also have the highest churn rate - 3.1% last quarter.

That churn rate may be accurate, but they actually NETTED about a million new subs each of the last two quarters.

Yeah, but to experience 3.1% churn something's not right.

Well, I don't know if that's an accurate number, but I certainly don't have a better one. I was just assuming he/she is right. My policy is not to argue unless I know I'm right. Novel idea in a forum like this, huh?

What I mean to say is T mobile markets to teens with the focus on down-loadable ring songs and games with their advertising in general. I believe that is because there is no service beyond the single band 1900Mhz.

When one leaves a major through way the signal is gone. free roaming, but no service. Its great if you live in a city and travel the major freeways. The cheapest and the best value perhaps. I think thats why they market the way they do.

I just don't see the coverage in the vast areas of Arizona, Nevada, and the Southwestern corridor where you an get a signal from many other carriers
There is a reason the service is the cheapest as well there is a reason why Verizon is overpriced and over bloated.

I agree with your general comment but you contradict yourself. True, TMo is cheap because they focus on younger consumers and have a more limited coverage area. Verizon has a broader coverage area, which you admit, so of course they will charge more - customers are getting what they pay for.

No ATT has great coverage in those areas and are a better deal and have better and more universally accessorized phones. I find Verizon sales employees arrogant. They make you think you are asking how many miles per gallon to a Rolls Royce dealer! I don't consider Verizon a status symbol just because they have the most customers. Sometimes the masses just follow the heard and do not research options. the Ipod is a great example of this mentality. Apple sells the most digital audio players in the iPod yet there are player with more features and value on the market as well for those who will do a little research.

Sorry, I dislike AT&T ever since I went down to college and got no coverage there... while pretty much all the other providers offered great service there. That's not great service to me especially since I go to a huge party school.. #2 in the nation from last year from what I've heard. But anyway, I know they're merging with Cingular but I remember that for a while AT&T would switch over to cingular when I'm down at college and then they would charge extra when someone uses it to call so all my faith in it was gone. It was great... so long as I stayed home.

Buddy, I'm not one of those Verizon groupies that worships at the alter of Vodaphone. I could care less if Verizon was the number 6 ranked carrier in the US...as long as they offer the service they do I'm happy. And I looked at the data...and it still doesn't look too scientific to me.

Hey, I agree, those graphs look a little shaky, my point was, i wanted to know how and where the data came from so I could make a more educated assesment.

They probably only did research in like the major cities, like Chicago, New York, Orlando, Los Angeles... etc.

And anyone look at reception by phone? I don't know anyone with a Kyocera.
