Phone Price Structure

What does everyone think of the new phone price structure? Basically, paying full price for the phone, but over the course of 24 months. We can no longer get a discount phone because TMO has done away with contracts.

I understand we pay a down-payment, then pay every months for 24 months, but I have never ever paid full price for a phone.

Does this apply to loyalty customers that have been with TMO for 14 years?

It applies to the entire industry! Tmo is forcing change, the contract is a thing of the past, only a matter of time, and it is long, long overdue!

All the other carriers have already announced payment plans that are somewhat similar to T-Mobile.

T-Mobile is murdering the contract, it is a thing of the past.

You can either pay off your device, hold onto it longer, and have a lower bill that doesn't include the device subsidy, or you can start all over again with device payments and get a new one.

Personally, I love, love, love all the changes John Legere is forcing on the industry. I'm still a relatively new T-Mobile customer, only been with them since 4/29/13, defected from the overrated/overhyped Verizon.

I love all the "LOYAL" customer arguments. So do you call AT&T about a landline and ask for a new cordless phone for free because you've been a loyal customer for 40 years. Do you ask McDonald's for a discount on the dollar menu because you've been eating there for years?

Loyalty for the sake of loyalty is over. It's good for the customer and in the end it will be good to companies like T-Mobile.

No where in any agreement do you get something just for being a customer. I do like the fact that we are getting rid of contracts. It will help makers make better phones and actually be comepetive (sp).

You pay for the phone no matter what company you are with. All the other companies just hide it in the monthly payments. Tmobille is now being upfront with it, so you know what you are paying for the phone. And, if you don't get a new phone with the other companies, you still pay the full price for the plan. With Tmobile your rates effectively go down once your phone is paid off, unless you get another phone.
