I'd suggest using this site.

Although they may not have much data from your area, they' helped me choose Verizon in my area.

With T-Mobile a very close 2nd.

The reason I chose Verizon & T-Mobile were based on reviews from the above mentioned site on how fast text's were delivered within an carrier and cross carriers.

I read one review that Sprint was fine with text's within it's own network but could take up to 20 minutes going out of it's network. Unacceptable!

Verizon, you get what you pay for. T-Mobile, you use your service within an urban area. Pay full price or pick up a TMO phone off Ebay or the likes. Then pick up a no contract SIM card from T-Mobile, you'll get more than what you pay for.

IMHO
