Any disadvantage of value plans

Looking at the SIM only 'value' plans.

The store rep told me that coverage is reduced with these plans. Is that true, is there less roaming or something? Any other disadvantages over the other more expensive post paid plans?

Entirely untrue. I had a rep arguing this with me about prepaid some time ago right here. It must have something to do with their compensation. Also, I'm not sure if it's available in store, hence the reason they wouldn't push it. 🙄

I've dealt with a lot of wireless reps in my day. It's my opinion that T-Mobile has some of the least educated bunch. A lot of that may be due to poor training. That said, I had a Sprint rep try to tell me that Metro doesn't use LTE for their 4G or their own towers. Yikes!

Your best bet is to educate yourself.

If it was a rep who was worried about compensation, he's an idiot. In store reps make more commission off of value than off of classic plans...

Same coverage, just no handset subsidy but cheaper plan. Simple as that.

Basically w/ value plans the only difference is since your rate plan is lower than the "classic" plan you can't get phone discounts at all so all of your phones will be full retail..that said w/ the value plan there is EIP which is basically interest free financing on phones so basically you make a down payment about what the normal discounted price is like for GS3 16gb of $279.99, then the remaining amount is broken up over 20 months and applied to your bill, depending on the phone its usually $10-$20/mo which at the most is about what you'd pay on the classic plans anyways.

Correct, but if you already have the device or you purchase it from a 3rd party at a nice discount this rate plan rocks.
