New Upgrade Scheme
Now while that is fantastic here is my question - will "dealers" such as amazon be able to offer upgrades with their discounts?
(continues)
I want prices that amazon.com offers for my upgrade. :-D
Anyway so I am currently in the process of trying the following and will let you know if I succeed.
I currently have a phone in the name of my cousin.
I have two goals - One - get the line into my name. Two - Get an updated phone at as low a price as possible.
One - requires me to sign a new contract (with no phone)
Two - I will have to spend 99.99 (after rebate) to get the T610 (best phone with T-Mo as of now)
So instead what I am doing is
A. Getting a new line from Amazon (on T-Mo) in my cousin's wives name.
B. Once that is active will ask them if they can switch the numbers on the two lines in the family ...

I actually wouldn't recommend the T610 (or any ericsson for that matter)....that model has a lot of software issues that go along with it.
i completely disagree. se phone's are great. i've got both the t616 and the t226 and they both do a better job then the crappy nokia phones my friends have.
there can't be that much of a dif in the rf between the t610 & the t616 but like i said i've got both the t616 & t226 and both get great reception. and atm the t226 is the free phone we are giving out and the worst thing i've been hearing about it is the size, no complaints about reception.

Strange.
I guess it's due to different markets? Location is everything I'm assuming.
that phone has so many software issues its rediculous and the reception quality can't even compare to the simply basic samsung r225. get a nokia or a samsung phone. if you need bluetooth and a camera get the motorolla v300, even though it has a known issue of randomly shutting itself off, it's feature rich and that appears to be what you're looking for.
also.. why are you so worried about the contract.. it's only for a year. I can't say I know even one individual that drops a hundred bucks on a phone and doesn't want it a year later. You've already been using T-mobile's service so you already know the quality of the network so what gives?
I can see your point about certain phones having better characteristics and from my personal requirements - cosmetic as well as functional I feel that phone will serve me well for the next 6 months before I switch perhaps to the Nokia 6230.
As for the contract - I have no hassles with signing up another year as long as I can get as a good deal as any other person.
I never said I don't want to sign the contract. All I ask is that when I sign a contract I want to get as good a deal as Mr. John Doe who signs up as a new customer and signs the EXACT same contract. So I am only trying to work the system to get what i would consider a fair treatment. If John Doe can sign u...

Will definitely do. Thanks for the heads up anyway. I do notice that they recently they put up a few new phones on their website.
I've been with T-mobile for 3 or more years now, and it pisses me off that I can not get a better deal than the over priced phones they offer. Furthermore even with the discount towards an upgrade the price is still more than the regular price of the phone with new service.
My unhappiness with the selection of phones and the up grade process may cause me to take my business to another service provider and get a better phone than the those offered by T-mobile at a better price

I've never understood T-mobile's practice of giving new customers better deals than older customers.

Trust me, it's no better anywhere else. AT&T does the same thing, and with Verizon I had to beg them to let me...

Sorry, thats a generalization I know, but don't attack other companies and say you're unbiased. 😛
the other bluetooth-ready phones are the p270 and the timeport series.
