What does it take?!

...to get someone to check a tower in your area? For the past 5 months the 3g coverage in my area has been horrible. Even at work I have problems with holding a 3g signal. I have checked the coverage map and according to the map I have good coverage. It hasn't even been a year yet and I will be on my 5th replacement device...this is ridiculous. Im fed up and ready to port my number back to Verizon. The only reason I left is because Verizon is so darn expensive. 🙄

I have a MyTouch Slide. Prior to that I had a Moto Cliq. Im not the only one that has complained about that problem in my area. I know several people with TMobile (diff devices) and they complain about the same problem. What does it hurt to send a field tech out the check the tower?

Well there's your problem! Taking calls all day, that's the one phone that I hear the most negative things about. I'd say just get a different phone and string up whoever sold you the Slide.

I remember you! It's been about a year since your 'Verizon is trippin' post. So what happened? Did VZW let you out of your contract with no ETF? Sounds like T-Mobile initially worked for you.

Lmbo! Verizon was trip'n! After I left Verizon a friend of mine told me that more than likely it could have been my phone because the 8330 (BB) was a terrible phone. I told him my mom who doesn't have a BB had the same prob. Some guy on here sent me a long message how to go about getting someone to come and check the tower in my area. Verizon is a good company but I will go back to them because they are way too expensive. I had 2 lines (phone and usb modem). TMobile was great in the beginning but after about 5 months they made a lot of changes as far as services and then there is the issue with the 3g coverage. They keep hypin up the "4g" service but what about all the customers who have 3g devices? Smh...I'm pretty much fed up. Oh...

My phone isn't that old...its a MyTouch Slide. I just don't understand the drastic change in the quality of the service. I went from having pretty good coverage everywhere to it being really spotty and not being able to use my phone in certain areas of the airport (where I work) and everyone else who doesn't have TMo can. 🙄 The same at my house. I just don't get it. ☚ī¸

Ironically, the technology in your model is merely a prior iteration of what's on the 4G models. In other words, it's the same technology. Your phone uses HSPA 7.2, and the 4G models use HSPA 14.4. On Verizon, this would be somewhat like the EVDO Revision 0 (3G) versus EVDO Revision A (3G), with less of a speed difference. Also, someone would probably take this moment to point out that what T-Mobile calls 4G today, they called 3G not too long ago.

With T-Mobile, as I understand it, you're essentially linking into a "4G" tower, but getting "3G" speeds. Moving to one of T-Mobile's 4G models should give you the exact same connection, only with faster data speeds.

My personal experience with T-Mobile isn't that great. My wife was on ...

How is it your comparing HSPA 14.4 to EVDO Rev.A? Rev.A is only capable of a max speed of 3.6.

Because I wasn't comparing the speeds of the two technologies, I was comparing the evolutionary paths of the technologies.

SOMETIMES IT TAKES MORE THAN ONE PERSON TO BE "REPORTING" A PROBLEM TO GET THEM TO SEND SOMEONE OUT. OTHER THAN THAT THEY JUST SAY ITS THE DEVICE OR ITS WHAT THE BUILDING IS MADE UP OF THAT YOU WORK IN THE MORE STEEL AND CONCRETE THE WORSE A SIGNAL. I GET EDGE IN THE BUILDING I WORK IN AND THEN STEP OUTSIDE AND GET 4G.

Agreed when you said it takes more than one person. As Ideal as it would seem for them to send someone out every time someone said they didn't have coverage that would be very expensive to do on t-mobiles end. Thats why you are provided a 14 day buyers remorse period with purchase in a store, 20 days over the phone, 30 days if you receive a MCSA discount/live in california/order includes a blackberry.

I am fully aware of TMobile's 14 day buyer's remorse period. For the 1st 5 months everything was fine. I was elgible for a partical upgrade this month and so I got the G2 and I have to say things are much better now. I actually get the "4g" service in my house which kind of surprised me since the 3g was so crappy. As long as my phone is working properly and I can get decent service Im happy. 🙂

I also have the g2 and love my phone!!! The G2 is an amazing phone. Although I am really excited to see when HTC comes out with something capable of the full 21 mbps connection speed.
