MyTouch 4g HSPA+ Question
Quick question I'm hoping to have answered, went to 2 T-Mobile stores and still not certain, also tried Google. I have the MyTouch 4G on an EM+ Plan, 500 mins, $59.99, my location is downtown Chicago. In my "about phone" settings, the network type used to indicate "HSPA+." I had a sim card issue with wifi calling and was sent an OTA update from tech support.
Ever since, the network type always indicates either "HSDPA" or "UMTS" and never "HSPA+." The store reps have told me that although the phone displays HSDPA/UMTS, it is still running at the "4g" speed / HSPA+ and that the network does it automatically if I am in a 4g area, which I obviously am.
This just doesn't make sense to me, am I missing something? The Samsung Tab on display was showing "UMTS" which is 3G, which leads me to believe my phone is also operating at 3G speed? Do I need to add that $10 "4G web add-on" or something? Thanks for any feedback.
