"H" but never 3G

Have the new mytouch 4g. It only ever displays H and E. I know the E is for Edge. Is the "H" 4G or 3G? Or does 3G actually say "3G" like it does on at&t. If the H is 4 G, I am curoius why I NEVER EVER See 3G only 4G & EDGE?

Thats a good question. Whats your zip code? I wanna check your data coverage to see if "H" is 4g.

H stands for HSPA+ which is the "4g" network.

The only problem is that it isn't true 4g, just a more developed version of 3g.

Bascially H = 3G in you're area thats why you don't see 3G. Go into an area that doesn't have "4G" and you will see 3G if its available.

Because even the manufacturers do not use T-Mo's definition of what 4G is.

T-Mo's definition does not meet the International Telecommunication Union definition of 4G. Mad Hatter logic here - a word means what I want to to mean!

Which means no one should be touting false advertising by calling it 4G. At least sprint is a different technology that they are selling as 4G, not just the broadening of 3G data that T-Mo has (which, by the way, is what AT&T also uses and is rapidly building out)

I agree with you that they should have never branded it 4G, They should of left it as 3g Hspa+. On sprints side, well different or not there 4g is junk and rather slow from all the tests that we see.. so if anything, T-Mob is the closest to 4g haha. Oh well. I have notice a pick up in sales for the New 4G lol. and seeing we wont charge you 10.00 extra for your speed increase, I wont complain.

4G just means 4th generation.... its not a more broadened 3g its a more developed 3G which makes it 4th generations = 4G
