Can I activate an old Sony Ericsson T226 as a T-Mobile prepaid?

I have an old Sony Ericsson T226 from back when Cellular One was still in business. One of my employees needs a cell phone briefly and I would like to buy a prepaid SIM card and use it with this phone. I really don't want a postpaid account because he's only going to be using this phone for a few weeks at most. Will the T Mobile prepaid SIM card be compatible with this old phone? I looked on the T Mobile website but didn't find any answers there.

Thanks.

Well, I would much prefer spending $20 than purchasing a data cable, downloading BitPim (or whatever it's called) and playing with it for half a day in effor to unlock a phone. Been there, done that, not worth the effot.

Thanks for your advice.
