The name you port to does not have to match the name of the account you are porting from. That's why carriers ask for a copy of the current acct bill. I have ported numbers from one name to another.
I thought AT&T's gurantee was 14 days, similar to all the other carriers. Did you buy the phone through a dealer or AT&T direct? Many dealers only allow for 14 days as well or they will charge you additionally.
