Hey, quit knocking the G1. You must not be very tech savy if you had so many problems with it. I have the G1 and it works great. Yes, tmobile is just starting up with their 3G but it works well on edge & great on wifi. The phone has great reception in all areas I go to. Your experience is different since you live in a different area.

I have had At&t for several years before switching to Tmobile. My calls don't get dropped now & they are actually go through the first try. At&t's 3G has many holes in it. For how long it has been out it should not be that way.

Really? The most basic purpose of using a cell phone is to make calls? How silly of me I never knew that!!! 😲 Your situation is different than mine. I can tell you where I live (Houston) I have enjoyed my services with T-Mobile for almost 4 years. I can not recall an instance where I dropped a call with them, with 3G or EDGE. You don't need messaging, BUT I DO!!! I send text and pics to family and friends, so bundle text and data and I'm paying $50 a month with AT&T? I'm getting the same services for half that. Rollover? It's a joke to me. If I'm rolling over my minutes, I'm on the wrong plan and paying too much. AT&T is actually far more expensive than T-Mobile when you take into consideration how much you spend for data and the minutes.

For instance, the cheapest plan on AT&T with rollover is 39.99 for 450 minutes and 5,000 night and weekend minutes...

Now, maybe it's just me, but I think getting 5 numbers to call as much as I want (via T-Mobile's MyFaves 300 plan) plus 300 additional minutes and UNLIMITED nights and weekends greatly outweighs paying the same price for limited minutes that you could far more easily go over with AT&T.

And if you aren't using myFaves, T-Mobile also offers 600 anytime minutes, 150 more than AT&T, PLUS unlimited nights and weekends.

And let's not forget the 9.99 for unlimited Wi-Fi calling, something AT&T s...

the G1 does not have uma technology, therefore it is not able to make phone calls using wifi, hence it would be pointless to add the 9.99 feature...Another thing, the g1 does not yet have the ability to use the phone as a modem right out of the box, so you would be unable to thether it unless you did some home-brewing and hacked the device which has not been done yet.

There is software/hacks/homebrew available for the G1 to tether it to your computer. Its was possible like a week after the phone came out.

should of went with verizon if you care about 3g and (future) 4g coverage. VZW > at&t > Tmobile when it comes to network for both voice and data.

Windows mobile isnt that bad anymore. Now that you can use Opera mobile and firefox mobile on WM among other things its fine. if you dont like the omnia pick a diff phone. but if his concern was the network im confused as to why he went with #2 in that category instead of #1

Windows Mobile is terrible. I used to work for Verizon, and I agree that their network is the best of the bunch. The phones suck though. I used to think like you, wondering what everyone was complaining about. Now that I'm using GSM phones with actual third party support, I realize what I was missing out on with Verizon. So no thanks. I won't pick a different phone.

I wouldn't say they're in over their heads. First of all, you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try. 2nd, no carrier has the most amazing coverage everywhere. I guarantee you there are areas in the country where T-Mobile has excellent coverage and AT&T does not and the same goes for every single other carrier out there. I'm not saying T-Moblie doesn't have opportunities...They do. But you act like these are opportunities that absolutely must exist everywhere and they're happening to everyone, which they're not. If they were, T-Mobile wouldn't continue to grow in customer base. I understand perception is key and yours is they've failed you a cell phone company but fortunately that doesn't happen to everyone.

Musta sucked when you had "unlimited minutes" on your landline, huh? Or TV watching. I pay for cable tv, I might as well sit on my butt all day and all night watching it so I don't waste my money.

I think we all understand that T-Mobile didn't work out for you, just as AT&T didn't work out for me three years ago or Verizon five years ago. But you don't see me going into those forums and complaining that AT&T kept dropping calls every five minutes, or that Verizon's overpriced.

T-Mobile is just like any other carrier. They don't work everywhere. I'm sure they'd be glad to have you back as a customer when they get better at 3G coverage, but you have to understand that they haven't been able to launch 3G until this year, so there are bound to be a few bugs and bad spots to begin with. Patience is a virtue.
