but today while in the tmobile store fixing my hubby's cell i saw a sign up saying unlimitted text is 9.99 now.

No its unlimited text to anyone.. just call 611 and change it.
also it is for single rate plans... meaning one line only.. so you can have 9.99 unlimited text on ONE line on a family myFaves plan... especially when the parents do not text and only the one kid does.
