Was going to buy this phone as a gift for a friend. But I see that it is discontinued. Talk about a short life. Anyone know why T-mobile dropped this one so quickly?

Actually it is because this is America. The 8801 was an experiment to see if the U.S. would be like Europe and the rest of the world. In virtually every other country they regularly pay $500 for phones but in America everyone wants the free phone because we are stupid so T-Mobile tried offering one of the high end phones at a very European price of course Americans did not buy it we are cheap people so they took it away. And we are forever forced to have crappy phones while everyone else laughs at us again. 😎

you could not be more wrong, people in this forum and howardforums will fork over mucho dinero for a phone they really like. This phone is worth about $150

This phone about $350 if TMOB supported it.

Again the feature set just does not justify the price, give me Symbian, a huge screen and a 3 megapixel cam and then we will talk about dropping 4 bills.

Nope its not available, it was taken out of the upgrade program at the end of September, It was discontinued becasue T-Mobile only ordered 5000 of them. When they sold out that was it plus the features damn sure didn't justify the price!

Then why is it that when I go into the CIHU order form, input my mom's number, it pulls up the Nokia 8801?
