Should I get a SDA, a BB 7105t, or some other non-T-mobile smartphone unlocked on Ebay or something.

Wait for the Pearle being released in September. It's a Blackberry with a music player and camera. Great device from reviews. 🙂

It depends on your needs. If you need to be able to run lots of 3rd party apps, get the SDA or a Symbian based phone. If you primarily need email and/or basic web access go with the Blackberry.
In my oppinion, the Blackberry platform is the best of the various "smartphone" platforms, it is generally the most stable and has the longest mean time before failure. However, there is a severe shortage of applications, and many of the ones you can find are rather expensive. (although this situation is steadily improving)

I agree with dragon7687 and katrina but I will add a couple of things here:

1. Please stay away from the 7105t, it's not a good device especially if you have heavy e-mail usage and want 3rd party stuff on it. Additionally, the data service here is GPRS as opposed to EDGE. Trust me, EDGE is a lot faster and better from the data perspective.

3. In addition to the 8100, the 8700 series BBs are nice to but only if you don't need the music player, camera and the external memory card space.

Also if you are looking for internet browsing, then ...

I wasn't trying to downplay anything you said but was merely adding a few things from my own observations about certain smartphones. I was also recommending that the smartphone to get should have EDGE rather than GPRS (e.g. - the BB 7105t is not an EDGE enabled phone and that there are other issues I've noticed with them that I would strongly use against recommending that phone).

I had/have experience with three of the smartphones he was inquiring about so I just gave him my 2 cents on each. I hope I haven't said anything to piss you off--sorry in advance.
