Good Bye T-Mobile, Good bye!

This has got to be the saddest day of the year for me. I have to leave T-Mobile. After 2 years of great service and very friendly CSRs I have to port my line over to Cingular and save some $$$. ๐Ÿ˜ข Cingular can now receive txt msgs from the country where my family lives so there is no reason for me to stay. If I ever have to leave Cingular I wouldn't think twice about coming back to you. It is such a shame.

Actually, Cingular is cheaper on international rates, as long as you add the $3.99 fee. For example, most of Europe, t-mobile charges .34 per minute, cingular charges 1.49 per minute, but if you add the 3.99 international fee, its only .07 per minute. For someone from another country that calls internationally a lot, that can make a big difference.

Is that $3.99 a roaming fee or to make international calls? If it's to make international calls there are lots of ways to make calls that won't make you pay $4 per month for the "privilege." If it's for placing calls to international locations onesuite or Gorilla Direct is much cheaper than either T-Mobile or cingular.

Its the "Cingular World Connect" feature and your right. If you pay that $4 bucks a month, you get to call internationally at a discounted rate. If you dont, you'll get charged out the a$$ for calling outside the US. T-mobile doesnt have that, they just charge a flat rate across the board. Its like the lesser of two evils kind of thing.

Why on earth would someone use either the "service" from either cingular or T-Mobile when there are lots of cheaper and better alternatives. Setting up an account with onesuite.com or Gorilla Direct for "PIN-less" access for international long distance for a few cents per minute to call first world country locations such as most of Europe, Hong Kong, Is...

How is the call quality of these services. I have a sick mother overseas and I need to call her frequently. I call her cell phone (BTW)
If I use a calling card I could get like 60 mins for $2 if I call a landline, but only 7 mins if I call her cell phone. So it is cheaper for me to call her using Cingular World Connect. I was completely unaware of this Gorillaz thing. Isn't that a British pop band? ๐Ÿคฃ

As I wrote in another reply it's *never* cheap to use the service of the native company no matter which cellular provider you use. If you haven't you need to check out Gorilla Mobile (what the heck is a Gorillasz?) at http://gorillamobile.com or onesuite at http://www.onesuite.com . After you go there you will see the rates and you should be able to determine that no "program" from any carrier will even touch those rates.

It does reduce your rates. I go from $2.19 to $.20. a minute... ๐Ÿ™„
It is convinient
Easy
And the calls are crystal clear; just like calling someone in the US.

Same with Gorilla Mobile and and onesuite and that $.20 call would be reduced to 4 or 5 cents. I still dont' know why someone would want to use the "bargains" that the carriers give when it's often more than 100% markup from what you'd pay using another service. And onesuite and Gorilla Mobile are easy too. It's all about whether you want to save serious money when making international calls. The original amount of $2.19 is highway robbery to begin with. 20 cents per minute is no bargain unless you're calling an eastern...

Yeah, like calling from the US to France is 65ร‚ยข a minute to call regular numbers and 89ร‚ยข to call a mobile number while onesuite charges 3ร‚ยข to call a regular number and 21ร‚ยข to call a mobile number. According to my poor math skills that's several hundred percent difference.

Sorry. I was looking at an older cingular page. Why they still have the older rates up I'm not sure.

You could get a VOIP phone for your family.
Apparently there are a lot of US service members doing this if they get stationed overseas.

I'm using Vonage for my home phone service and loving it.

I was planning to go cellphone only but Tmob + Vonage is a winning combination for me.
