The suspense is killing me

Hello, i've had T-mobile for about 4 months now and i love it so far. But as i look toward the future i'm a bit puzzled. T-mobile is lagging in upgrades:

Cingular, Sprint, Verizon, etc. have all updated their own versions of the HTC Wizard with the MSFP. Its killing me that I cant get a repsonse out of a t-mobile rep about this at all. Does anyone have an idea when they will be releasing this?

Cingular is going HSDPA and now has PTT, and all other carriers have EV-DO. Any idea of when t-mobile will even try to do 3g service?

I believe T-Mobile is going to try and get 3G started after the spectrum auction in August. I'm not sure though so don't quote me on this.

yea but the problem w/ the spectrum is that the phones would have to have a special AWS 2100 band developed specifically for t-mobile. Which would take forever.

Actually, they can't do that -the 2100 mhz band is for military use in the U.S., thus why U.S. Carriers are developing their 3G on the 850/1900 bands, and why there's not more 3G UMTS phones already - because in Europe & Asia, 2100mhz is 3G only.

actually, your wrong. the 2100Mhz band is up for auction but it's being paired w/ the 1700Mhz band.
Therefore, phone manufacturers would have to create a radio that would work on all 5 UMTS bands (Europe will begin using the 900Mhz band for 3G in rural areas).

To further clarify, T-Mobile doesn't have the spectrum necessary, yet, to launch 3G. That's why they launched EDGE for now. T-Mobile will launch 3G next year or the year after if they win enough from the auction.

It could be next or the year after. They're not going to let someone like me know. I'm not in that kind of a position yet although I am working on it. lol.

That's why I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon... Although its a little more expensive, I love their new phone lineup, VCast music/video, and VZ Navigator...

I really do hope T-Mobile can get some spectrum though and start competing with these guys... Maybe that competition will drive down the price for 3g services... 🙂

...and if they can't, they'll lower their rate plans even more on voice...
