I just got the t309 from tmobile due to me being highly unhappy with my Razr....I was wondering. i have been a customer for over a year now and was wondering how I went about asking them for the unlock code for the phone? Also after unlocking it....am I able to then switch it over to the cingular network? like by going to settings and switching the network manually?

Thanks in advance for your help..

lol, unlocking is for using different carriers sim chips. as long as there is a cingular network in a place that there is no t-mobile network, you can jump onto it. your not gonna find many area's with that. so to answer your question; no, unlocking it is not going to let you use theirs instead.

They *always* know your IMEI whether it's unlocked or not. Every time your phone interacts with the network it sends your phone's IMEI. Does T-Mobile care which phone you use? Not at all.

if you have not requested another unlock code within the past 90 days, you can call customer care and request to get an unlock code. we just have to file a request and the code comes back within 24 hours in most cases.
however, unlocking your phone has nothing to do with jumping over to cingular's network... unlocking the phone just allows you to put another carriers sim card into your phone to use (with their service). if you're just wanting to use cingular's network while using your tmobile service, you just need to manually select the network. you dont need a sim unlock.
