Better GSM Network????

I currently have Cingular in the Los Angeles area. Works pretty well except for my house, damn!!

I'm thinking about switching to TMobile for a variety of reasons; rate plans, customer services, flexibility, etc.

I just don't know what to expect. All the review and ratings I've read are based on overall service. I'm looking for real world, call quality opinion.

Does anyone have any thing to say about the comparison between Cingular and TMobile's networks?

thanks,
J

The reception should be about the same or beter since T-mobile also uses Cingular towers.

If you really not sure, get a prepaid T-mobile phone and try it out in your area. If it doesn't work than you didn't loose much. Than you can just sell the prepaid phone on Ebay.

prepaid coverage is different than post-paid. You may want to just go grab a phone for the trial period to give t-mobile a shot. in Saint Louis t-mobile tends to have quite a few less dropped calls, and call quality tends to be higher. but both of these are opinion, not fact.

It may be "similar" now but cingular also has access to the old ATTWS network the so called "blue network." Whether this makes for better or worse coverage I couldn't say.

I have T-Mobile and live in West Hollywood with my girlfriend who has Cingular. For the most part my covergae is pretty solid though there are the occasanional dead spots (and I say spots, no zones cause it doesn't seem like there are that many or that big)

On average, I would say my coverage is about the same as my girlfriend's. No realy complaints except inside some stores (the Ralphs and the Home Depot I get no service, but from what I rmember her Cingular service isn't much better in those spots.

I've been with T-Mobile since they were Voicestream and I lived in North Jersey/NYC area. I also had them up in San Francisco, so it's been about 6/7 years or so and whatever they have lacked in the occasional area of coverage, they've ...
