Sidekick 3 - Hype, or Hysteria?
I know there is much hoopla about the new Sidekick 3, and I am sure there are already people camping out in front of malls and dressing up like Jay Z or Darth Vader or Madonna all holding Sidekick 3's in anticipation of the release of the new device. But I would really like to know, what is all the hype about?
From what I've read, it seems like the MDA has all the same features that the Sidekick 3 will have, and more. The versatility of having a Windows based system will be unmatched. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the wifi will not be on the new Sidekick version either.
Maybe I'm old school, but I'd like to know your version of WHY is the Sidekick such a big story? Is it because of Tom Cruise sporting a Sidekick on national ...

Put it in a rappers hand and it usually sales. Dont know what the hype is thought. Good for text messaging and that is about it. The MDA is a much more well-rounded device. And when you compare it to devices such as the V from Verizon. Oh wait, that is a insult.

What is so cool about the V...have you seen the height of that phone? It looks smaller in pics for sure... It does have a lot of neat features but personally I think its very big and thickness is pretty big too...

It is a thick phone but the Sidekick is no SLVR either. Im just lookin at it from a functional standpoint. The best non-pda phone with a QWERTY is the V.

I wouldn't buy a device because a rapper has it. Hey, I rather not have it if only rappers have it. I would buy if it has everything that I need and like. Anyways over half of those rappers spend 90% of thier "careers" in jail.

Not backing up the Sk3 but there are people who would only buy a Windows based phone if it were their last and only option.

There have also been many reported issues with WEP, RSA, and Syncing. I work in IT and understand that with both software and hardware there are bugs that get worked out over time. But it's always the same story with any windows product and mobile is no different. There are a small but growing number of people who just have had enough with Windows and opt not to use it unless they have to.
