I currently live in Ft. Lauderdale and I have been using T-Mobile for about 2 months. I have one year contract and so far I have been happy with them. I just found out that I will be moving to Charlotte, NC and I noticed that T- Mobile does not offer service anywhere in the state of North Carolina. Only trhough the roaming feature. Basically I will be roaming all day long and I am not really sure how the service will be. WIll they be using the GSM towers from Cingular? At any rate, the contract also says the mobile to mobile feaute might not even work, which means that I will be using my anytime minutes. What do I do? WIll they let me break the contract if I am not getting the service or will I be alright? Will I be better served by another ...

You should be able to roam, nad your mob2mob feature should still be unaffected. Unfortunately, T-Mo can't guarantee the quality of service in the area. But, there is a procedure to get out of you contract if you fax proof of your new address in, call in and ask about that. Hope this helps.

FYI..The Mobile to Mobile feature will NOT be usable in North Carolina. However Mid_Isle is correct. If you call in you should be able to fax in a copy of a current Bank statment or some sort of utilitty bill that shows your new address. When i say current i mean less than 30 days old. With that information you should be able to get your deact fee waved.

Why would you do that when you can roam for free on all plan save one. My mom lives in NC and we used the M2M all day long... Talk with CC and they will help you out.

Yes, I can roam, but again the idea of having a family plan is take advantage of the Mobile to mobile minutes. If my wife and myself are both in Charlotte and we call each otehr the plan will be taking away from my anytime minutes vs the unlimited mobile to mobile minutes. Also there is a good chance that no many people in NC will have t-mobile. This will defeat the overall purpose of having a plan with them when there might be a better carrier in the area.

I'm seeing conflicting reports here on whether Mobile to Mobile works in North Carolina or not. I believe it used to not, but that now it does. (I don't have a work computer in front of me at the moment). Anyways, if you call customer care, they have in their policies, and so they can tell you, what the areas are that Mobile to Mobile will not work. There is a specific list of companies (and locations) that you can roam on that Mobile to Mobile doesn't work on, in other areas it works fine.
As far as faxing in a proof of address like a bank statement, there may be more to it than that. If you are going to ask to be let off of your contract because you're moving to an area with no reception, customer care will want to check if your dest...

I just looked up the policies on mobile to mobile roaming...this is what i found...

Mobile-to-mobile calls made or received on Edge Wireless, Colorado Cellular or Cingular networks within Colorado, Maine, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Vermont are not rated as T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile. These carriers do not provide T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile information to us.

so using the phone in those areas will be charged as regular minutes even if its a tmobile customer that you are talking to. unless of course it night or weekend minutes.

T-Mobile has NO COVERAGE in North Carolina!! How am I sure.... IM LOOKING AT A ICM (Coverage map) while AT WORK!!!! (aux 7!) It shows tan with pin stripes meaning there is only roaming. Too bad i dont have your soon to be address to pin point the coverage.

Only a t-mobile tower can recognize a t-mobile to t-mobile call.... how can triton or cingular offer that??? we dont know if you are calling a sprint or verizon customer ya know!

And to be safe on the etf fee what you would want to do is FAX A drivers license with the new address, a POWER bill, or GAS bill. Don't send a medical bill or direct tv bill to us.. and make sure the copy of it that u fax is legible.

there you have it. no further disputes needed. dont make me copy and pas...
