Darn those sour grapes! Darn them, I say! 🙄

When I started with TMobile in Q1 2003, we were jumping up and down because our target was 8 million customers by Jan 1 '03--actually, we started the year at over 10 million. Last numbers put us at 13.1 million, mostly gains from WLNP. Our numbers are great and we're making money. So maybe some of the other carriers ought to take a leaf from our book and be a little more proactive about customer service--that way they can keep some of these people we're ending up with! Maybe... 🙄

Last time I checked tmobile had the biggest turnover rate in the industry 😲 Congrats though on the customer service rating, hopefully that will help cut into the turnover rate!

Yeah, and nevermind the fact they're adding customers at an alarming rate. They really must suck.

Yes, they are adding customers at a great rate, but if you lose them a year later, you're not doing that great. Numbers show that it costs more to acquire a new customer than retain a current one. Tmobile has phone and coverage issues that will cause this wave off customer additions to fizzle. I don't want great customer service if they are going to just find a nice way to tell me that my phone isnt' going to work how I want it to.

Here's a nice way of telling you you're way off: Tmobile's subscriber additions GREATLY offset churn. Got it? Good.

That argument doesn't make logical sense, based on the definition of churn. Churn is calculated using the total amount of additions versus the total amount of attrition. So, like I just posted, if you are adding a little bit less customers than VZW and your churn rate is double, that means that you are losing customers faster.

Actually, your reasoning makes no sense whatsoever. Go check the official numbers on Tmobile's website. The carrier is adding many more customers than it is losing.

I'm aware of that. What I'm saying is that, based on their churn rate, they will be hurting badly once they stop getting all those customers that are rushing in the door to try out a new service with the "supposed" cheapest rate plans.

But that's just it...their churn is diminishing, while their sales are picking up every quarter. Your logic is flawed.

Yup and by the way, T-Mobile does have the cheapest national plans. Just look at the plans the competition is offering.

Well, lets look at that. Using T-Mobiles Boston MA rates and the most popular plan sold in wireless, family plans:

T-Mobile:
Plan: Family Time
Cost: 69.99
Minutes: 800
N&W: Unlimited
M2M: Not included
Additional Lines: $10
Second line free

Cingular:
Plan: Cingular Nation GSM
Cost: 59.99
Minutes: 850 w/rollover
N&W: Unlimited
M2M: Unlimited
Additional Lines: $9.99
No second line free

So even charging $9.99 for the second line, Cingular comes out ahead. The inclusion of M2M on this plan means your usage of Peak minutes will in many cases be LOWER. Rollover provides overage protection, plus an additional 50 minutes of peak talk time.

It is inherent with the plan. This is a base plan. They've always had mobile to mobile. How would you have a family plan without mobile to mobile???????????????

well i know that T-Mobile's family plans aren't very attractive but I was referring to the single lines. Those are cheaper than most other companies.

And a lot of people like T-Mobile's 49.99 family plan because some people just don't talk as much. That's a plan that cingular can't beat.

I think I like the fact that with sprint you can add a line to any plan and make it a family plan...but it is 20 dollars a line for an add a line.

My concern with that is simple.... put 4 people on a 300 minute plan and watch their bill explode!
...
lilgabe1

Jul 13, 2004, 2:35 PM
Yeah, but it has to be a minimum plan of like 500 minutes I think. Their add a line is too high, I have that. I will be trying to get a retention plan when that contact is up in september.

Jul 13, 2004, 2:43 PM
You can add a line to any Cingular plan 39.99 or higher. We usually discount on higher plans for the add-a-line cost.
...

Jul 13, 2004, 4:27 PM
Well, for the Cingular plans, it'd cost 19.99 to add a line for plans 49.99 and lower so it's almost the same as sprint's. It is only with the 59.99 and higher can they add a line for 9.99. And someone keeps telling me that they are gonna get rid of it by the end of this month but I doubt it if it's bringing them new customers.

That's true. Family Talk activations are only 18 bux to activate tho.
...
sherryberry

Jul 13, 2004, 10:20 PM
Yeah but if they don't usually use a lotta mins and want the cheaper one, it'd pretty much balance itself out with 18 bucks activation and 19.99 add a line. the 49.99 for t-mobile is already the price for two lines and perfect for people who doesn't talk a lot... a lot of people who comes into sam's club wants that plan as opposed to anyting else cingular offers. Plus, we got the x105 for free with a $75 mail-in-rebate. They don't pass up that offer.

Jul 13, 2004, 2:41 PM
That all depends, actually. Cingular's 49.99 plan offers 200 more minutes, unlimited M2M and N&W. T-Mobile offers the second line free. Cingular on 49.99 charges 19.99. But here's the difference. On Family Talk lines, activation is 18.00 per line, not 35.00 So its like getting the second line free initially. Couple that with a network one HELL of a lot larger, and it becomes a matter of choice. I would like to have the cushion of those 200 extra minutes, especially if one line is for a teen. (thank God for rollover then too!)

Sherryberry,

Even T-Mobile's most popular plan, Get More 1000 pales in comparison to Cingular. 1000 minutes, No N&W, no M2M = 1000 minutes a month period. 39.99

Cingular GSM Nation
450 Anytime w/rollover, 5000 N&W = 5450 minutes a month 39.99

I'm convinced that they are over the top in their Customer Service/Care ratings. However, it would be about time that they start offering deals on both their Get More and Family Time (all 3) plans where nights start @ 7pm. Shame on you T-Mobile as AT&T, Cingular, and Sprint PCS all have this component as a part of their plans......This is ofcourse not to mention that all 3 suck major a$$!

Take my word for it, having this option for your plans will prevent some of that fizzle where customer run away from you all and go to the "sucky" so called carriers. I can't begin to tell you how long it's been staring me in the face where the other carriers have the 7pm nights and we don't. I was contemplating switchin till I saw these articles. ...

CONGRATS, T-Mobile! 😁
And just so the rest of you know, T-Mobile doesn't give out half as many credits as Verizon to keep their customers happy. Verizon is legendary for saying, "Oh, you're service is bad? You don't like your phone? Well, here's $50 and how about extending your contract for 2 more years to get a new phone (that's just a crappy)." Also, I would love it if nights started at 7pm...but then customers would start asking for nights starting at 6pm, then 5pm...it's a no win situation. Customers always want more unlimited mins then a carrier can provide. As far as rollover mins go...I prefer being on a plan that fits my monthly usage, instead of paying extra for mins that will rollover and I might never use anyway! T-Mobile real...

Well blame this stuff on AT&T and Stinkular for trying to be better than T-Mobile.

AT&T has it where people subscribing to plans costing $59.99/month or higher can get their nights to start at 7pm AT NO EXTRA CHARGE! P>s. and FYI, AT&T did make a lame attempt to beat the T-Mobile Get More Plan @ $39.99/month and offiered 700 minutes.... I think they stil do only it's a LOCAL PLAN AND NOT A NATIONAL PLAN......bwahahahahahahahah (roflmao at all the AT&T customers that have this plan thinking it's better than T-Mobile's plan at the same price......suckers!!!) Whoaaaa. You can't use the mobile to mobile with tmobile if you are not on the tmobile network. I did customer service for them and I've seen the bills and heard the cursing. Their network is already smaller than VZW's.To me the customer service is a wash. I say this from experience as a customer and a rep.VZW trains their reps on customer service as hard as Tmobile does. But I do commend Tmobiel on reaching their goal, before I left there, they had that listed as a five year goal, I think they made it in about two.
