A Question from Customer Service

Mid_Isle

Mar 1, 2006, 1:02 PM
Quite often when someone calls in to upgrade, upon being asked what phone they want, they will invariably reply "The best phone.", not understanding that for the most part the term "best" is subjective.

My question to all those reading is this:
What do *you* consider to be the be the quote unquote best phone T-mobile offers?

i would say its between the moto v360 (edge vga, mp3 player, bluetooth, sdmemory) OR the samsung t809 (same as above with addtnl MP camera)
though i do agree the moto v360 is not as good looking as the RAZR the RAZR is ONLY form.. absolutely NO function. IMHO 🙂

the real jerker for me here is.. IM almost embarrassed to be seen with the v360. 🤭 I dont care who crosses me on this but.. The RAZR is still being gawked at. YES 50 million plus people have it.. but there ARE 450 million people in this country.. thats alot of people who dont have one. The v360 (since ive upgraded recently) is nothing spectacular.. Wish they would update the RAZR.. oh and i know about the V3i coming out.. but not looking to pay 700+ for it through cingular (as i would be paying full retail since i dont wish a 2yr contract)
oi.. cell phone companies and the geeks(me) who worship/hate them.. 🤭

You dont have to pay 700+ for the v3i... you can actually buy it unlocked with a 256mb memory card for under $320.... i can give you the link to the site... HOWEVER... EVEN BETTER THAN THE v3i is the V3x which will cost you a pretty penny...but still not 700...more like 550....

I agree... who cares if the v360 has EDGE... unless you're a heavy internet user... the RAZR can do everything the v360 does ...

WOW, it always amazes me how many people constantly go off looks when deciding what the best phone is. It depends on what you're looking for, do you want something that gets great signal, lasts a long time, and works very well as a phone? Or are you looking for something cute to match your wardrobe.

Nokias make the best PHONES, period. Sure, they may not match the complection of your skin, or the light in your eyes, but they have the best signal and durability of any phone. The only problem with Nokia is that they're not cute.

Now if you want to buy a toy and not a cell phone, then go get a Motorola. Anyone who knows anything about the technical aspects of how a cell phone works knows that metal casing on a phone hurts the signa...

I agree... the RAZR is NOT THE ABSOLUTE BEST... I dont know about the metal affecting the signal but doesnt sound too far-fetched... I disagree with Nokia making the best phones... I guess it depends on the person's experience... One thing I will say about Motorola is that they are long overdue for a firmware upgrade... I am tired of the same firmware on every Motorola ... it freezes a lot and is not too user friendly... Nokia is much more user friendly but I think Nokia phones look cheap (in my opinion)...Motorola phones look more professional and sophisticated... Although I do find funny what you say about ppl looking for a phone to match their eyes and wardrobe... I find that a little bit exaggerated...lol...Samsung is pretty good (I agre...

Weren't you the guy lamenting the fact that T-Mobile does not carry a black RAZR b/c you don't think the silver one looks good enough? 😉

Sure I agree Nokias sometimes "look" cheap, again though we're refering to looks. I'm trying to seperate looks from great reception and durability. Sure the 3595 looks like a cheeseball of a phone, but damn the reception is strong.

I agree with you NOKIA does makes the best phones in the world, I sold & worked on many phones, NOKIA phones are the best in my book and SAMSUNG is in the second place, IF SAMSUNG is your choice bet on the t309,or the x495, for NOKIA go with the 6101, or wait till the 6030 comes out, no Motorola, more then 60% have audio issue, this is base on my last 5 years of experience

So when your customer asks what's the best phone, ask them do you want a great phone that works, or you want something that will match your earings and purse? If you want a phone that gets signal and lasts a long time, get Nokia, if you want to look pretty get some other phone.

Hey, like I said in the original post, I know very well it's subjective. I'm just wondering from the consumer's POV what it is. Consider it a poll of sorts.

actually one of the main reason motorola had to pull the i830 off the market, was that they werent able to make the phone work with the metal casing extremely limited space...that's why the i710 works better than the i730, paint on the phone...go figure 🙄

Dont want to nit-pick, but there are only 300 million US citizens. I guess 150 million off wouldn't be nit-picking though. 😉

It really all depends on who you talk to. Coming from the Customer service stand point and the fact that i work at one of T-mobiles Competitors Call center and refuse to use there service - I would have to say that the best phone that Tmobile has come out with is there new MDA phone which by the way Phone scoop seems to have sleep on and still has no info on the website about. However if you are not big on tech you might find it to be a waste of you time and money. When a customer asks me which is the best phone I ask the two things how do they want to use it and how much is too much to spend

Good answer... the MDA is really resourceful however it has many advanced features that most ppl dont use...

True...the MDA *is* quite popular right now (hence us being sold out in the upgrade program withing 24 hrs of it launching)...I'm looking more for which Handset tho, as we only really have 4 pdas (well, two different Blackberries, the SDA, MDA, and Sidekick2)

it depends on what the cust is going to be using the phone for.. for some ppl who want just a simple phone it may be the nokia 6010, or the MDA for people who want a data device... while other ppl might not need all the ftrs of the mda... see? so it really depends on what they will be using it for

The best phone for reception is the Nokia 6101. But it's also the worst phone for earpiece volume if your ear's pinna covers the tiny little pinhole opening that they put in there for the speaker!
