Need T-Mobile Phone Recommendation

PhiladelphiaGuy

Jun 29, 2004, 12:51 PM
Hi all. I am in need of a T-Mobile phone recommendation - I am looking to upgrade, had service for over a year. I would idially like something tri-band (for world roaming) with good battery life. It seems the Samsung X-105 and Nokia 6610 are no longer on the webpage). Any other thoughts?

Also, any input on the color Blackberry as a phone and as an organizer?

Thanks to all who have respnded or will respond!

Recommendations are kind of tough right now, since they are sort of between new models. I have a Nokia 6610 that I love, and that would be the perfect phone for what you are looking for. The Sony Ericsson T610 is tri-band and has good battery life, but its a little on the weak side for reception and the memory capapcity of the phone leaves something to be desired. I have one of these also, and when I used it I didn't really have any problem.
I don't really have an opinion on the Blackberry, other than I would hate to have to hold that up to the side of my head. I think if you want an organizer phone you should think about either the Nokia 3660 or 6600, both tri-band, both speakerphone, bluetooth, camera w/ video recording, and both have...

😁
I have a T-Mo Blackberry 7230. I have been extremely happy with it. I am even considering getting rid of my new iPaq. The phone quality and clarity is just awesome. I was shocked. It blows away the clarity of my Verizon LG phone. As for being bulky, its really not especially if you don't mind using the ear piece. It's light and thin enough to fit in your pants pocket without noticing.

Lastly you cant beat T-Mo's pricing for the unlimited data and phone service.

Blackberry 7230 = Highly recommended

Go to your local retail store (the mom and pop shops) and look for the deals there. There are also links to certain websites that offer the X-105 for free and then you can even make some cash after that by way of the rebates.

Good luck! 😁

I am a mom and pop shop, and that phone is GONE. The only way an indirect agent will have it is if they still have them sitting around from the last time they ordered. I was selling it for free after rebate and they flew out of here. Plus, the X105 isn't tri-band like he was asking for. It only works on 900/1900 mHz.

He's right! It isn't so your better bet is the nokia 6600 or the 3660.

There are some good ones out already. The Nokia 6600, 6610 (tri-band), 3660 (tri-band), Samsung E715 (tri-band I believe), and motorola v.600 (should out soon and is tri-band I believe).

The Samsung E715 is only dual band also. The V600 is quad band.

Ok, first of all, you DO NOT want to purchase online. Websites only offer deals to NEW customers, and if you try to purchase a phone this way, you'll wind up with an entirely new line of service, new phone number, and new activation fee! Always go through Customer Care (1-800-937-8997 or 611 from your handset) or any T-Mobile Direct Retail Store (by Direct I mean no wireless stores, just stored that sell ONLY T-Mobile products and services). The phones others have mentioned are all great phones. To let you know, Samsung phones are always Dual-Band, which means you can roam anywhere in the world except for New Guinea and parts of Asia. We also have a Motorola-V300 available that is a Tri-Band camera phone (integrated camera), which is a flip...

Samsung V205 is a tri-band. T-Mobile just doesn't carry it anymore so Samsung doesn't only make dual-band phones.

And why exactly should somebody ONLY go to a T-Mobile store? Indirect dealers sell the exact same equipment with the exact same warranty and 14 day guarantee, and may sell it cheaper than the direct retail store. And now we are also even on the exact same upgrade/renewal program as the direct stores, which means we offer the same phone prices and the same rebates now to anyone in the 11th month or greater of their current contract.

SORRY!! 🤭 I forgot that Indirect Dealers now have the ability to upgrade, as well. But, as far as existing customers go, ALL customers are supposed to be offered the same price through the Handset Upgrade Program once they qualify for maximum discount, no matter which store they go to. 🙂

Also, I wanted to add that alot of Indirect stores only offer a 3-day return policy (obviously not your store), and we've had some problems with that. Likewise, we've dealt with Indirect dealers encouraging customers to cancel with T-Mobile and sign up with a different carrier (that they support in their store) to get a better deal on phones. At customer care, we recognize that there are honest Indirect stores out there, but you guys are few and far between.

Actually, the wireless retail stores in Sam's Club does NOT do upgrades. Only new service agreements.

I imagine that's by their choice, probably because they can't maintain the profit margin they want on upgrades. Or they just don't want to deal with the confusion of different pricing schemes for upgrades vs. new actiavtions.

Well, I appreciate that you acknowledge there are a few of us good guys out there. It's too bad that there are apparently enough shady indirects to earn us a bad name. It drives me nuts, as many who might have read my previous posts on the subject might have already noticed. I guess it's pure greed that leads other indirect agents to pull their shenanigans.

I've had some bad experiences with indirect dealers but then again some good. But mostly at my store we have to deal with the customer who was dooped by an indirect (not accusing all of you guys). But it just happens and its a pain to have to sort through all of the screw ups.

This occurs periodically but there are some cool indirects out there. I am friends with a few.

Not to mention that some of us indirect dealers (AHEM! cough! 😲 ) are even more knowledgeable than the employees that work at the direct stores (this is where JDigital and I pat each other on the respective back). Go team!

It goes both ways, some direct reps aren't as knowledgable and some indirect reps aren't either. Its really based on your own experience. I've dealt with some clueless direct and indirect employees.

Go T-Mobile period! (direct and indirect)

I do have a keen sense of humor 🤣

You should be surprised as to how many people came into my store today... a national holiday.

They are all gonna go out and get intoxicated with their brand new phones and do something stupid with it. Then come in tomorrow with crocodile tears trying to get a free replacement.

Actually, yes... our second location should open in August or September. By the way, Drama, I was in CC today with my friend's sister buying a new TV. I was bored while she was getting the sales pitch and so I went over to the digital cameras and sold one to a guy standing there looking. It was hilarious. I flagged down a salesperson and said "hey, I just sold this guy a camera for you; ring him up." I was actually thinking that if I had been trying to get hired at CC it would have been a good audition. What's the deal with the crappy phone selection and all the phones being free after various rebates right now? Is that just the location I was at? They had NOTHING good for Verizon.

I have to agree with JDigital about this. CC does have some crappy phones for VZW.

The Moto V60p is a lovely paperweight.

I was told by my Regional Manager that we should see the new Samsungs and the Moto V600 by the end of this month.
