Hey right now i have Cingular and i've been debating which carrier i should go with when my contracts ends.Verizon because I know it will work in my house. T-Mobile because it has the best plans, and i HATE having no unlimited messaging on Cingular. And T-Mobile has the best customer service. But then again people tell me about how bad T-Mobile coverage. Is it really THAT bad? I live in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis. I also like that T-Mobile will be rolling out UMA so i can get coverage in my hosue. So the next carrier i go with just might be T-Mobile. Just give me your thoughts
thanks

OK, I have T-Mobile, I sell Verizon.

I can tell you of T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon T-Mobile is the only on to get signal at my parents house in the middle of no where on Lake Superior an hour north of Duluth. But Verizon is the only one that gets signal in the town by their house.

Verizon doesn't have unlimited txt (yet) but the have unlimited IN TXT/PIX/FLX on plans ranging from $10-$20 per month and 500-2500 out msgs respectively. Right now T-Mo's unlimited text is $14.99 per month.

I honestly don't know if I get charged for roaming on T-Mo but I know VZW doesn't. VZW has other features that T-Mo doesn't (VCast, Music Store, VZ Navigator {on select phones) but if you don't plan to use them that doesn't matter.

I would suggest...

actually unlimited msg right now is 9.99/mo and the url to check service is http://t-mobile.com/coverage/Default.asp

Also tmobile does not charge you for roaming even if you are transmitting on a roaming tower.

In MN the coverage is not bad at all, and we have a lot of 850 roaming there so you will get a lot of coverage in your state. I say go for it. You can try the phone out for 14 days and take it back if you hate it, and you only have to sign a 1-year contract anyway.

I just looked at my T-Mo account online and I saw no option for 9.99 unlimited text. Is that for new accounts only? Do I have to call to get that changed? Is it not available to Family share lines? Please fill me in on how I'd go about saving $10.00 a month (2 lines). Thanks!!

He is wrong. That $9.99 price for unlimited text is for Family plans only. Regular is $14.99.

Yes customer care can change it for you over the phone. Just tell them you want the $9.99 unlmited text plan for families. It's an add on so it won't extend your contract.

T-mo's coverage is weak in comparasion to VZW. You should listen to people that are telling you T-mo's coverage is poor because i'm assuming they use it in the same area you would. The CDMA carriers seem to have much better coverage in most areas, but T-mo is normally the cheapest (because they have to be).

Yeah, you're right. Let's tell this person to sign up for t-mo when the service blows like you. GSM is no comparasion to CDMA. I'll take any CDMA carrier over GSM. I'm old fashion, I want service that works.

PS - You're a douche.

Give T-Mobile a try. Use the 14 day trial period, to see for yourself. As others have said, T-Mobile has alot of roaming agreements in MN, with their 850MHz roaming agreements there.

Here:
http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/?class=coverage »

Use that to check your coverage. But, still give the 14 day trial period a chance to if T-Mobile works where u go.

i wouldnt say their coverage is very bad, but it needs to drastically improve in order to gain more subscribers.

many of the other carriers need to improve their coverage anyway...

you could always try the trial policy to see if t-mobile is good for you and compare it to cingular, and whoever is better chose them.

Another good idea is to ask the people who live in your area what they use. Ask the people you talk to the most which carrier they have. Both VZW and TMO have free mobile to mobile minutes so if all your friends have VZW and you get TMO (or vice versa) they all get to talk to each other for free, and not you. If you're like my friends and it's a big mixed bag of all the carriers it's not such a big deal. I also live in the MPLS area, I have TMO, most of my friends, however, have VZW. I get a lot of dropped calls at my apt but thats about it. No one on VZW has ever had a call dropped at my apt.
Like everyone has said get one, take advantage of the trial period, if you don't like it switch.

Do not allow other people sway you one way or another. The facts allow you to make the correct decision and choose T-Mobile over other carriers. T-Mobile added over 506,000 Square miles of new coverage last year. Did any other carrier come close? NO! Also T-Mobile has sighed 850 roaming agreements with many other GSM carriers. MN was one of the largest benefactors. The agreements were with the regional carriers you know and a couple National carriers like Cingular. Cingular is used only when there are NO other options. Have you seen the new Handsets coming out? PEBL, T809, HTC SDA, HTC MDA, and a couple coming out soon. Not only are they nice looking, They work and do not get downgraded by reviews or replaced in 3 to 6 months sinc...

hey thanks all, just gotta wait till another year now, Febuary 2007 till my Cingular contract ends. well ALOT can happen in the next year...ALOT. i just wish it was still AT&T, and i HATED being forced to migrate to Cingular. Anyway, it's just that in my school the people that have T-Mobile get NO bars, and i have Cingular and i have full bars. thanks LOTS!
