T-Mobile assigned phone number

One speed bump so far in starting up my new TM account. While shopping, I had asked THREE of their salespeople about getting an easy-to-remember number. They all replied, "No problemo. If U don't like the random one that comes with the phone, just call cust.serve; they'll take care of you." So when it all actually happens today, the cust.serve person sez, "We don't change numbers just because you don't like the current one." 🙄

Well what you want is a vanity request which we do not offer. If you call customer care ask NICELY if you could get a # thats a little easier to remember, tell em' you have a grandma that needs to contact you and it would be easier if it had some repeating numbers or something like that. some reps might be hard asses about it and if you do hang up and then call back ask them for about 3 # that have some that are easy. but don't ask for a number that dosn't a a 4 in it and has multiples of 3, 8 or 9 we will say no 👿
hope this helps1 😎

OK, the rest of the story is that after pointing out the salesperson thing, I was peachy nice about it. After telling me TMo doesn't do this, she proceeded to diligently look thru some list, picking out several #'s for me to choose from. 😁

It's just that I wasn't expecting such a clear disconnect right then. 😲 It might be better to hang this on 'salespeople' rather than TMo.

I think you're a victim of "overzealous commissioned salespersons".

We did an activation on the phone for an asian lady who didn't want 4's in her number.. and we just told them that she didn't want 4's and that person changed the lady's number for her right away. So yeah.. it all depends on who you get on the phone.

I usually change the number for the "4" issue because I know what the deal is--in several Asian languages, the word for the number four is the same as the word for death, and therefore whenever anyone dials their number it's pushing negative chi at them. It's unlucky as all get out, I gather. So I look at it as a religious issue and change it without a fuss the same way as I'll make sure a devout Christian doesn't get a number with 666 in it. It's a good thing to be tolerant of diversity... 😉

Yup that's exactly why she wanted it to change and then she complained that she had a 5 in her number but then she just settled for that and gave the number with more 5's in it to her daughter lol
