HTC named it the HTC Wizard. But, since T-Mobile is going to be selling it, they renamed it T-Mobile MDA Vario.

Forget the MDA, I heard T-Mobile is coming out with the Treo 900! Get serious people!

From my last email…

It's clear the only thing T-Mobile is interested in sending old phones to Macco for a paint job...and then doubling the price. The re-release of Optimus Prime, I mean the 7105 is great. New buttons rule!

Now before all the T-Mo reps jump on this comment and trash me, let me offer this.

Company #1:
Sign a multimillion dollar contract with a beautiful celebrity to prance around and say “get more”.
Maintain a pathetic phone/handheld lineup and so customers can’t “get more”.

Company#2
Hire a nobody to do your ads and use the extra money to write brilliant contracts with companies like Palm...taking your customers to th...

OK....First of all, I think you are trying to start a flame war, but if you really are being serious, I think you have some of your facts wrong. Verizon does indeed have a good marketing program and is really starting to be aggressive with their handsets and technology road map. But, at the same time, I think T-Mobile is doing a hell of a job here in the U.S. They are the only wireless telecom company that is 100% owned by a foreign company and the little fact that they are the #1 provider in all of Europe is not insignificant. I think its really arrogant of Americans to think they are the end-all-be-all when it comes to technology and engineering.

In addition, T-Mobile has outstanding customer service, an extremely large wireless footpr...

Somewhat. Your story is full of holes, like T-Mobile's coverage area.

I'm sorry you feel American's are arrogant. I'm proud to be an American.

Will the MDA have 802.11G, and also what about UMA being on this device in the future? There is conflicting info about the specs on the MDA. Some say it has 65K resolution, and some say it has 262K resolution. Which one is real?

The link you put up on HoFo said people hacked it, and found out how to put 802.11G on it, and since they did that, it made the web faster.

I don't know what to believe. Some say the MDA is really slow since it has a 200MHz processor, while some say it is really fast. Nobody can tell for sure. I know people were saying that the web got faster since it was hacked with the registry key to enable 802.11G, but I don't know. I don't want to get this device if there are so many bad comments about it.

If you want the truth, the best thing to do is take a test drive for yourself. Yes, I know it’s not out yet (and probably won’t be for some time), but you can check out the Sprint 6700. Like the Camaro/Firebird similarities, thee phones basically have the same guts and operating system with a different shell. I used one for about an hour at a Sprint store and I was blown away. I was expecting this device to be quick and all that. On the contrary, it was so slow. Remember when we all had dial-up and you watch the screen generate from top to bottom. Well, that’s how the operating system works. When you tap a command like “start”, it sticks, sticks, sticks, and then slowly (1/8” inch at a time) generates the screen you asked for. Real nice de...

I have used both the MDA and the SDA and have found both of them to be fast devices. Unfortunately I only got to use them with GPRS, not Wi-Fi and so of course the Internet was slow, but not any more so than any other data device. The OS loaded plenty fast though. I mean, there was the occasional hourglass, but it was not frustratingly slow to use.

Don't forget that the model in the Sprint store was a demo that had probably been handled by lots of people without being restarted or anything. It probably would have been OK after a reboot.
