Just Wandering

Just wandering if anyone knows for sure if T-mobile is going to get the SGH-P735(P730).
Because alot of people think it wont make it to T-mobile and if so, how much do you think the price tag will be on one of them?

I'd have to say that we have NO idea when or IF this phone is coming out for Tmobile. I've talked with 4 reps from Tmobile and they looked at me like they hadn't even heard of the phone. So don't hold your breath.

Our Samsung rep paid my store a visit last week and this phone will be coming out for T-Mobile this year (no exact date as of yet). Look for the D415 next month.

Just like the v600 was due out in May (and this was sworn to by the below mentioned Tmobile reps)? I don't hold my breath when it comes to expecting new phones. They'll simply arrive in a puff of smoke when you least expect it.

Unfortunately that is the case most of the time. It all depends on the stability of the phone. Given some of the problems T-Mobile has had in the past with phones and given the requirement for stable operating systems to handle the advanced features, testing has become a much more in depth process. In the case of the V600, several software versions have been tested already, none of which have proved to be to T-Mobile's liking. Motorola is contacted, bugs are fixed, and the new version is tested. Each new version has had bugs in it that T-Mobile isn't willing to market, especially in a higher end phone. Rest assured, the fun new phones will be coming out with T-Mobile once they're ready. Better to wait until it's a phone worth buying than hav...

But Moto customers are used to exchanging phones, right?

That's what T-Mobile is trying to alleviate.

T-Mobile reps are pretty much the last people to know about a new phone being released. They usually get an email explaining the new phone and it's features about a week before launch. There have been a few times when a shipment of new phones come in and the reps get an email the same day saying, hey theres a new phone out!

Not if Samsung doesn't make a CDMA variant, they won't.

From what I've been told, the P735 is almost as certain to be released by T-Mobile as the D415 is, but not as soon. Don't worry if a couple reps haven't heard of it. Just because they work for a carrier doesn't necessarily mean they really care about new phones or when they are coming out. Some of them just don't give a crap and will sell it when it gets there. Anyway, when it comes to handsets nothing is ever certain, but the Samsung reps and the T-Mobile reps are both on the same page about these two phones, which I would say makes it a little more likely that we will get them eventually.

Our Samsung rep was just about positive about next month for the release of the D415. He gave us a 95% chance (of course theres that dwindling 5%). Watch for price drops on the Samsung line of phones and one model inparticular to be discontinued, all for the arrival of the D415.

But like we all know, nothing is 100% certain unless it gets to the store.

Ain't that the truth. I've learned patience is a virtue. ;)

Would that one model to be discontinued possibly be the R225? I don't know why that thing is still clinging to life.

My cost on the 3595 is almost as cheap as the Samsung now. I don't currently offer any phones that are flat out free, but I do sell the Samsung X105 as free after the rebate. If somebody flat out refuses to spend a penny on a phone I'd just give them the Nokia.

Ha... right now where I am always situated, the Nokia 3595 is completely free and with the Samsung X105, you get 75 back after you pay 40... so they're paying people to take that phone.

Just this week, they are knocking off an additional $50 the E105 (along with the current $50 mail in rebate) in our store.

Hey, now! Diss not the venerable R225--it may not be fancy, but the thing works and it's bulletproof. I'll probably have mine as a backup phone forever! 😁

Oh, Aleq...I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. I've encountered many a problem with that particular Samsung.

As a TMobile customer care agent, I can conclusively say that I see fewer exchanges for that phone than any other, and only a couple of known issues. As an empirical user, the thing has never given me a lick of trouble and even when I ran my handsfree kit through the wash, it still has incoming audio, but no outgoing. Pretty tough, all things considered--Vivat Samsung! 🤣
