They're doing it for customers that are doing an upgrade through the indirect dealers. so i'm sure it's only a matter of time before they start it for new activations
...
Maybe we can finally make some money on upgrades. T-Mobile gave us indirects the shaft on upgrade commissions. I hope they offer a better commission on the 2 year. Their making it very hard for some of the indirects to compete đ
...
ya i know. i don't make jack on their upgrades.. plus our prices are marked up so high no one wants to ever do one anyways

Actually, 2 year contracts started about 2 months ago. and it will not be for activations, tmo still gives the option of one year contract. The 2 year contract is aimed for those customers on lower rate plans. I.E. the 19.99 and 29.99, or data only plans. It gives a larger discount to those customers who are loyal, but have lower usage. The contract is not aimed to earn commission. Focusing on happy customers and not commission will boost your sales more-- Happy=Loyal=come back=more sales and recommendations.
...
But since the rest of the industry has the 2yr as the standard, do you think Tmo will push push push the 2yr contract???
Thus making it harder for the reps and customers that are so used to 1yr contracts
(Afterall, Tmo's 1yr standard is a huge competetive edge that they are used to selling on)
Hopefully its not like Cingular, where they make something harder to sell with either no incentive or even a paycut!! đŋ

I knew it was a matter of time before T-Mobile was going to do 2 year contracts. I also have a feeling that they will eventually drop off the basic and basic plus plans.
...
They really shouldn't drop the Basic n' Basic Plus, if they know what's good for them.
The couple o' people I know who are considerin' T-Mobile are doin' so in big part 'cus T-Mobile offers the cheap 19.99 and 29.99 plans (even crappy as they are, with the no night minutes).
...
I have had both plans. I reccomend the 29.99 a month plan. It is a good value!
...
But from a company standpoint, the 19.99 and 29.99 may be becoming major loss-leaders, depending on Tmo's average monthly cost per customer (monthly billing, account maintenance, calls to customer care, etc costs).
Cingulars and AT&Ts monthly average per customer were both about $26 or so, which is why they dropped the low end plans.

im an indirect dealer in hbg,pa 17112
and we been able to do that for a while now atleast on upgrades. i don't even mention it to the customers and our company hasn't even set a commission rate for t-mobile 2yr upgrades.
(for one guy being an @$$ i did sign him up for 2yrs) đ
now if we can get them to keep their phone's and not return it because of the coverage i'll be able to keep the $5.00 commission i make on each phone... đ đ đ
...
that's all you make on an upgrade?? wow.. and i thought my $30 was crappy..
...
yes its terrible!!!!!!!!!!
be happy and appreciate it!!!!! đ đ
