You MAY notice a difference if you are in a Cingular 850 area. T-Mobile operates solely in the 1900 (PCS) band.

I'm not sure if this is accurate, but it is the only thought that popped into my head.

ok true, ford to a viper etc..... but wouldnt you think that cingular would be the viper and t mobile would be the ...well lets not say ford, let make it chevy.(t mobile isnt that bad). So cingy is the viper and and t mobile is a chevy. i would think cungular would be way better quality with as much coverage they got!!

Nope, I've used a Cingular phone and my TMo phone right next to each other and the TMo sounds better--I knew what I was typing; don't pull on my ears I know what I'm doing!

Besides, even if you want to do the Viper/Chevy comparison it works--the Corvette Z06 is prettier, has a fifty year history, handles like a dream, is damned fast and MUCH cheaper than the Viper, as well...

No problem--I totally don't buy this beer flavored network they keep going on about, but then I live in one of those orphaned ATT markets where everybody still has the same appalling coverage they always did and can't even get the dubious advantages of full migration to Cingular... 🙄 Oh, but they do get the billing irregularities, yup, get a full dose of those! 🤣

If your talking about voice quality, it's called AMR codec technology. T-Mobile enables their newer phones with AMR. This is a high quality voice encoding algorithm. This is public information. Take a look at the T-Mobile DE website in the investors section. The T-Mobile US engineering head discusses this in detail.
