T-Mobile Unlocking???
Okay so I have Tmo service and I want to get a black razr. Im going to get a Cingular one because I can get one dirt cheap and I want to know if I call CC will they unlcok it for me. I know you can get an unlock every 90days but does this include other carriers phones? Also will I need to inform cc that its a Cingular phone . . . or more specific whats the process?
I dont think I need a cable to have it unlocked because when I put my Tmo sim into a cingular black razr, it asks for a code.

T-mobile does not have the code to unlock it B/C its a Cingular phone...You would have to talk to Cingular CC, but from what i hear they don't give the codes out, like T-mobile...that't just what i have heard....u can give it a shot...u dont need a cable....although ur other option is to go on ebay and pay $ to get the code....never tried this but heard of ppl doing it

Tmobile will contact Moto and unlocj the phone for you. I have done it personally. When you give them the IMEI number they send it off to Moto. I have done it for 3 black razrs.

P.S. Did you know that say you had a Cingular Razor and a Tmobile Raror with the same IMEI number the unlock code would be the same...

well the only reason i ask is because a friend of mine working for cingular said a lot of tmobile customers, before they carried the razr, purchased razrs. When he asked why they were doing that they said they would unlock it for them.

Call T-Mobile customer care and ask them. I thought they did have the codes. There are also programs on the internet you could download (some are free, some cost money).

Guitarman21, could you point me to some free unlocking programs? I have an Audiovox 5600 with Att now Cing that I want to move to Tmobile.

If your account has been active longer than 90 days we can unlock the phone for you, however due to constraints from all manufacturers, at the moment it's taking up to 14 days to get the codes back to our customers. And yes, we do unlock codes on Cingular phones all the time, it's always been pretty easy. ATT, on the other hand, was impossible... 🙄

Actually its not all manufacturers. Last i knew nokia, palmone/handspring, HP, and mitsubishi(big demand there i'm sure) are on normal schedules.

wow i called tmo today and the guy, rick? i think was his name said id have the code w/in 24 hours and he'll be calling me back tomorrow to walk me through the unlock and programming my new phone w/ messaging center numbers. . .im highly impressed, go tmobile!

So i called back again today just to see how much longer it would be and now she tells me theres a 14 day waiting period! ah that sucks, any way to get the procses pushed through?

I did read them, but when i called. . .they gave me an eta of 24 hours and if it did not arrive w/in that time period, i should call back to cc

okay so now ive ran into another problem. I just got an email from tmobile asking me for my Cingular information. . .I have never had Cingular though? What do i do now?
