I live in an area with 4G in the city, but anywhere remotely out of city limits...i'm talking widespread areas and COMPLETE POPULATED towns are 100% 2G only here in North Carolina. When in the world will we at least have 3G in areas at&t had 3G in 5 years ago?! NC used to be a SunCom market so I guess 98% of the towers here are legancy SunCom towers. Anyway read this and you'll be screaming "AMEN!" just as I have!

I'm in NC too and have experienced the same thing you have. Once I leave my city I don't come across another 4G area for a two hour drive. It's only painfully slow EDGE. When I'm in the far western part of the state I roam on AT&T and it's on their EDGE network.

In all the T-Mobile EDGE areas I travel to AT&T has those same ares covered with 4G. T-Mobile's maps are a farce and do not accurately portray how little 4G coverage they have. However, I'm not confident at all that T-Mobile will ever improve coverage in these areas. They seem to be a company that's interested in chasing the latest fad. When everybody was building out 3G they were late to jump on the bandwagon. But before they got 3G built out, they stopped and jumped on...

According to the article if T-Mobile doesn't upgrade 100% of their towers by the end of the decade, they'll lose their licenses to the spectrum!

It's because of customers like you that T-Mobile will never, ever reach or pass 40+million customers, they need to invest $2-$5 billion a year in their network but they don't.

Customers who want more coverage, eventually
they'll leave.

It's because of Tmo's refusal to expand that they'll never
reach 45+ million customers.

Even if they expanded a little at a time.

I've been researching T-Mobile, to save on my wireless bill, but I'm hesitant.

At a hospital way out in the middle of no where in Stafford Springs, Ct, Verizon even has LTE there!
That impressed me. For the most part Verizon has their network covered with LTE, their just filling in some holes.

You have no idea how bad coverage is in NC. Literally ONLY a few large cities are 4g. Other big cities are 2G only and of course rural areas are 2G only. It's safe to say that with land-area considered 90+% of my state is 2G only even on MAJOR interstates. It's absurd. I just looked at a 3rd party coverage map for T-mobile and it's laughable. We literally are stuck in 2001 with T-mobile! 👿

Dang! Have you considered Verizon?

I've only been with 2 carriers my whole life,
Cingular/ATT for 8yrs, and Verizon for 3yrs.

If you need widest coverage in your area, then I suggest you switch to verizon 😁

@Jon Doh where in NC are you? I'm in Fayetteville which is 98% 4G but if I go anywere else its strictly 2G. I hate being in a rural area with friends that are all on 3G or 4G with other carrriers dowloading songs our using facebook and it would talke me 5 years to pull up weather.com.INSANE! T-mobile keeps giving me the "just hang on give us a chance, we are upgrading daily" same sold song & dance lines. By the time I have 3 or 4G where I want it now there will be 6G with all other carriers. I just feel that we will ALWAYS be behind the other carriers period. I want to leave them so bad. Yes At&T is about 25-30% higher a month, but to actually have service it's worth it. Wish I never left them for T-mobile! 🤭
