I went to Robert Moses Beach the other day on Long Island and i had full service throughout the trip and on the beach their was like one bar but hey it was more then sprint and nextel which had no service. i looked on the coverage check today and they have NO COVERAGE for the entire strip of robert moses beach...yet i had service...doesnt label it as roaming either...guess its not as accurate as we thought

The PCC is partially determined by what our engineering department lists as the ability of our tower system, partially by customer/employee input and partially by any current open issues. It is usually updated fairly frequently (I believe once a week). It may be that an issues was resolved in that area or maybe not enough users have let CC know that we have coverage there.

We have a lot of that in my area (Washington state). There are a lot of areas were the T-Mobile coverage is quite good that are not marked on the PCC map at all. It's frustrating sometimes because my store sells Cingular as well as T-Mobile, and there is one particular area (an entire county actually), that the Cingular coverage map show that they have coverage in, even though I know from personal experience that they have absolutely no coverage there at all. The ironic thing is that T-Mobile has great coverage there, but it's not marked on the printed maps or the online PCC map.

You know, I've encountered the same thing a few times with our ICM (interactive coverage map) same thing essentially as PCC, but it's what we use at work to troubleshoot, having several added features teh PCC does not such as troubletickets, tower issues, service requests etc...and a way to log them all.....One of our first steps on a troubleshooting call is to pull up the ICM and verify they are in a coverage area. Sometimes, I've pulled it up and it's solid white and the customer is saying "no , my phone has worked perfectly here for years" and say they wern't roaming....That one still gets me....

I've run into this as well, and I think it has a lot to do with what model of phone they're using. Nokias and some Samsungs will pull in a signal from out of nowhere, but four out of five times that somebody complains they have no coverage in a solid green area they'll be using a Motorola... 🙄

I think the understated coverage thing is kind of cool--it's like GM and Ford; GM underreports horsepower so when customers get their cars up on a dyno they're tickled pink when it comes in a few BHP over the rating from the GM, but Fords tend to come in lower than reported. Don't know about you, but I'd rather have the GM than the Ford... 😉

Yup, sure do--my R225 could put a call through in areas where you'd swear we had nothing--no signal bars, but I'd try it anyway and it would usually work. My E105 is pretty good, too, actually pulls in more signal than the R225 did and the call quality is better overall. My daughter's E315 is kinda weird, but I'm beginning to think her SIM is dodgy...

Oh, and bite me, Fordboy! Go test drive a GTO or a CTS with either the new 6cyl/5spd or the LS6 engine option (if you can find one and they'll even let you touch it!) and get back to me about those weenie little Mustang POS's... There was never a Camaro with a FOUR BANGER in it, unlike some Fords I could mention... 🙄 Oh yeah, and while you're at it, go listen to a Ford diesel truck a...

oh yeah, and I drive a 4cl Mazda Tribute (suv) I get 25mpg (not bad for an SUV) and I can fit all 3 of my dogs plus luggage for 2 and still have enough room to stretch my legs...and it's a little more handy with trips to home depot than a camaro would be ;)

Sorry lol I don't buy american cars- they all suck (and yes I know I have a Ford engine)

Thats the same as my home. I go to check my neighborhood coverage and it says no coverage. Thats no coverage nowhere near where i stay. i dont have great reception in my home but good enough to make and recieve calls. But I go down the street and I have all bars and excellent reception. Check the map and it says no coverage for that area too. Id have to admit coverage is spotty in my area.
