Truly sorry for those that work for T-Mobile. 😢
Spoke to a buddy who works in a NOC and they've already received their letters advising them of their choices.
1. Quit now and get $1500 in two payments.
2. Ride it out until the end, same $1500 + severance package. Example $26k for 9 years of service.
Apparently ATT is going to sell all T-Mobiles assets to 3rd world countries, towers, antennas, etc.
All ATT wants and needs is T-Mobile frequencies!
He did say obviously some will keep their jobs but it won't be many.

And this buyout is going to spur the economy how? Oh that's right dump how many more job seekers into an already crowded job market.

AT&T wants T-mobiles spectrum, towers and customers but the FCC wont allow for all of that. with mergers, especially like this size, it will happen that there will be layoffs. since it is very difficult to lay off people from AT&T because of the union, T-mobile jobs are going to be in jeapordy.

He said ATT doesn't need nor want their towers, people, operations centers, etc.
All ATT needs to roll out 4G is T-Mobile's spectrum.
All employees where he works have already been put on notice. 😲

Why? ATT already has more coverage than TMO and if all you need is spectrum why would they need more employees.
With the TMO commercials and new devices coming, it's like business as usual.
But behind the curtains there already making preparations for the buyout.

why? well you can always get more people.. thats usually how it works. companies like to retain the best talent wherever they are.

coverage is great but spectrum is even better. the more spectrum you have the better you are. not sure if you saw the url for the combined AT&t/tmobile spectrum holdings per county but its a lot. avg is 150-180mhz.

right on the first part, wrong on the second part. they cannot make preparings for the buyout. its not even approved. please man.

Stop talking about things you know nothing about. What your friend received is not a severance package. It is laying out two different scenarios: the $1500 package is the retention package, which he will receive if he is kept on after the merger as a bonus. The second option is a severance package if his position is eliminated.
Please stop spreading lies about things you know nothing about.

Someone has to conduct business for tmobile until the deal is completed. Thats what a retention bonus is for an "incentive to finish the job". The tmobile employees are going to get laid off

The point is that these employees now know they'll be out of a job in the near future. Do they ride it out or get out there in the job market before the local market is flooded with telcom employees?

Get in now. Believe me, it is easier to get a job when you already have one.

Such lies spread about. I encourage you to look at the history of Cingular. This culture is actually behind the current at&t not the AT&T of our youth.
