Potential big T customer...

I've been shopping around carriers since my Boost Sanyo phone felt like taking a hot bath, and T-Mobile does not seem like a bad option, mainly due to that little "no deposit" thingy.

Now, I understand that most of the people that use this particular forum room are either T-Mob employees or customers, so I was wondering if there is anything I should expect or watch out for in starting service with them?

Remember, one more educated customer is one less customer on the phone inspiring new material for the Shop Talk forum.

Thanks,

DJ

That is a very vague question. Could you be more specific? Are you looking to do contract, prepaid, flexpay?? If you're worried about your credit, prepaid may be a better option than flexpay right now.

I was actually looking into a contract for the G2 or a similar phone. I figured a contract in which I would be able to make on time payments will help bring my credit score back.

Well as a T-Mobile Customer as well as an employee I can say that I love my employer and my cell service. Flexpay is a really great option instead of paying a deposit but you still would have to have some money upfront. If you qualify for a regular postpaid account that is even better. Now as far as are there things to look out for thats a very broad question. Are there any specific things you are worried about?

On a side note the G2 is an amazing phone!!

Well, I'm a Sprint employee, and I usually have 2-3 calls a day in which I have to explain to the customer that our Everything Data plan with any mobile, anytime does not include cell phone calls while roaming, voicemail or (which I think it's more obvious than the others) 1-800 numbers.

I've realized that every carrier has its little knick knacks and I was wondering if T-Mobile had any that I needed to be aware of.

not that i know of. When we say unlimited we mean it. There's no premium data package charge for our 4g phones like sprint. Ummmm, idk T-Mo is pretty much the sh**! Lol

I hate to tell you this, but your credit doesn't benefit really from a cell phone plan. It can only be hurt. If you pay your bill ontime it COULD help in getting an appartment or something like that since they look at utility payments, but the 3 credit reporting agencies don't look at that really. However, what everything else has said is right.....even Smylax.....lol

Honestly that $50 talk/text/100MB data is a spectacular plan compared to anything on a contract. The downside is you're stuck with the Comet as your Android device.

I'm a guy who goes for utility above all else. The best bang for your buck is prepaid.

The Comet is the only one that comes pre-packaged for prepaid, but you can use ANY phone on prepaid, BUT of course if you want a myTouch you're looking at $450, no small amount...

For that plan maybe it's worth it?

For some, yes it would be. It all depends upon how often you get new phones...
