Switching: Sprint to Tmobile

ZzigG

Dec 16, 2010, 1:03 PM
I've been a long time Sprint customer and feel like I need a change. The only reason is because I feel like Sprint is awlays last to get anything good - in terms of devices.

I'm looking to get a new WP7 device and Tmobile seems to have the best selections (HD7 & Dell Venue Pro). The only issue seems to be their service plans. Am I missing something? Sprint has a $69 plan that includes unlimited data and text, while Tmobile looks to charge an extra $50 for data and text not to include $50 for the talk time. WTH?!?!

Really could use some insight into getting a good plan (if that is possible).

no need to leave, sprint is not the last, 1st with 4G not souped up 3G, also #1 and #2 rated devices in the country for 2010 the evo and epic, flip BB phone and now netbooks and tablets. I would rethink your decision

Maybe he doesn't want android? He's obviously interested in WP7... but ZzigG I don't know where you're getting your rate plans? If you're wanting a contract plan look at the Even More plans. We have a promotional plan right now: $79.99/month 1,500 minutes, unl nights & weekends, unl mobile to mobile, unl text, unl web. With an epic or evo on Sprint for the same price you only get 450 minutes because of the $10/month BS charge on those devices.

Lame.

1500 minutes is nothing when practically nobody has T-Mobile. I would fly through that in a couple of weeks. Besides, T-Mobile's rural coverage still sucks--even with roaming agreements.

I'm not going to attack T-mobile here...but please tell me reps aren't trying to sell 1,500 minutes vs. 450. My wife still has Sprint on the $69.99 plan and uses about 3,000 minutes per month. How many plan minutes does she use? Try less than 100. I'd say most anyone in the under 50 demographic uses 95% of their talk time with other wireless phones.

I understand you have to sell the product you have, but to make it sound like you're "giving away" an extra 1050 minutes is absurd.

Tmobile's nights start at 9pm and they don't have anymobile to anymobile. Sprint night start at 7pm and you can call any cellphone in the US free anytime. On family plan which is what him and his wife should be on thru either carrier if they wanna save money. Would be 129.99 with Sprint and have 1500 anytime min plus any mobile any time, with nights starting at 7pm. Tmobile also drops a lot more calls then Sprint in areas where they both have good coverage.

Tmobile customer service is just as dreadful. They have really bad outsourced cs that cant even help you get a descent plan. Sprints cs will go out of there way to help you and in my personal experience much better than tmobiles. You also have to throw in the fact tmobile has no in store tech support they have to send your phone in each time for repair. Sprint does this on the spot and if they cannot fix it you get a brand new phone. I can tell you how many times this comes in handy. Cool

T-mobile is constantly winning JD power awards for their customer service, not true with Sprint. Granted they have improved lately, but you'll find that have historically been at the bottom of JD power, including ones from this year.

One person's customer service experiance speaks little to what people can generally expect in terms of customer service. JD power lends much more credability to T-mobiles customer service than your anecdotal evidence.

The JD power link also lends credibility to the well established fact that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Wow u have to be a complete idiot to take someone else's word over your own personal experience. Only a braindead idiot would go by someone elses opinion over there own. For example if you take your child to a private school and the teachers are horrible and the school system sucks and u personal feel your child has learned nothing. But jd ranks them as the best school in america which one would u believe? Would u continue to take your child to school there or take your child somewhere else?

See, that makes little sense.

If the teachers are horrible
and the school system sucks
and you (and others) notice your child is not learning...

Someone like JD Powers is NOT going to give them a high mark for anyone's satisfaction. Rating companies like that just don't work that way. They will find dissatisfaction.

If the teachers are good
and the school system is effective
and you still think your child hasn't learned...

JD Powers would rate the school high. And you'd be the idiot taking your child to a school you obviously don't mesh with.

To help friends and family that have service with tmobile. Whenever I talk to them about tmobile or Sprint I tell them something I have or can do or they ask me questions about there service. Nope...It's Sprints way of luring customers. It's common practice in many industries for the underdog to use such tactics. Oddly enough, companies at the top don't have as much incentive to offer better deals.

Yes Sprint has more customers, it has been around a lot longer. However, the point people are making is that 48.3 million people is a number that was over 50 million not too long ago. Sprint has been losing customers and tons of cash for 2 years running. Its no longer in the freefall state it was at a year ago, but its still pretty bad. T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon have been pretty consistent overall at adding customers while Sprint has been losing them left and right. T-Mobile is headed up while Sprint is headed down. Now THOSE are cold hard facts.

but I kindof agree with DP in the fact that the OP wants a WP7. Sprint doesn't have one. I also think that switching carriers for the sake of a device is probably not the best decision. Most carriers end up with each type of OS so my guess is that eventually Sprint will have WP7 phones. Many people went to AT&T for the iPhone and while they may love their device, they hate their service. Go to where you will be happiest for the next 2 years. Go to the carrier that provides you with the needs specific to you.
