Honestly if you're going basic, it doesn't really matter. You can get the T139 in a prepaid kit, which is the one I would get in your shoes.

Ahem, a bit new then. I haven't looked in a while. Now that Im lookin the smartphone deals look even better. Im wondering though, my brother said he went in to re-new his contract and upgrade and the rep there pretty much refused to put him back on contract. Why is that ? I mean the prices are better but why push prepaid so hard, isn't contract better for them ?

Traditional logic says contracts are better, but with phone subsidies and additional customer service constraints it seems logical to start pushing people to prepaid. Consumers are finally getting wise to the BS that comes along with a contract.

That rep was an idiot. Prepaid makes very little profit whatsoever because prepaid customers don't spend money as consistently as a postpaid customer. However, for some customers prepaid is the best option. I know I always try to right-fit my customers, and for some, I do suggest prepaid.

"That rep was an idiot", Lmao thats real.
"...right-fit my customers", thats most likely what they were doing. Trying to seem friendly by pushing the better option.

ahem, allow me to interject.

the rep wasn't an idiot, i can probably guess what happened.

t-mobile launched a new postpaid plan called even more plus which is no contract and allows customers to move over to it with the understanding that they cannot move back to contract (although the rep who moved this person may not have explained that part very well which i apologize for...). they benefit with lower monthly price plans but cannot "upgrade" their phone traditionaly with discounts and such. they have to buy phones outright but get to spread out most if not all of the cost into a 20 month no interest payment plan.

this probably explains why the rep could'nt extend his contract.

and acdc was right, it benefits t-mo because we no ...
