Do you live in a TMO 3G area?
The G1 is 3G where the 8900 isn't but it has Wi-Fi.
I think the G1 is a cool phone but as for day to day use, it's kind of large.
And I'm sure I'm not alone when I say Blackberry has always done a better job at being a phone than HTC.

I own both and the G1 wins my vote, hands down. Blackberry has a huge following but I just wasnt hooked.. it looks beautiful, but the phone itself was ass backwards and the keys are not comfortable or practical for texting in my opinion and plus the trackball made my fingers hurt after a while.. I just really am not a huge blackberry fan though, this was my first blackbery purchase and it definately did not amaze me.

If you work in sales, start pushing TOUCHDOWN! It allows customers to link outlook to their G1's. I personally use it with our work email, and it works amazing. Thats a surefire way to get the sale if your comparing G1 to the Curve 8900.

It depends upon what you're looking to do with it. The G1 has a much better browser and is 3G enabled, plus the GPS service comes with the G1 data plan, while on Blackberries its through TeleNav, which is an additional 9.99 per month. If you are using your work email and they use exchange/enterprise, the blackberry works much better. There is an exchange app available for the G1 on the market, and its got ok reviews, but I haven't used it myself. The Blackberry will do direct push for all email, while with the G1 only your gmail will be push. This is perfect for me because its what I use. The Blackberry will get much better battery life, and its much smaller and lighter.
I prefer the G1 because of Android. I believe it is the OS of the futu...

8900 does have GPS with it. Telenav is more so the voice telling you where to go. www.googlemaps.com/gmm will get you google maps on the bb andit is actually the same GPS as the G1. I have both.

Found your previous post on the subject Symlax, Thanks! I've seen the preview of the new G2 on PhoneArena, but it doesn't list the weight of the G2. Do you happen to know what the weight of it will be? It must be a little lighter than the G1 due to being all touch and no keypad. Just wondering.

Someone I know who had the G1 ended up going with the Blackberry due to him feeling the G1 was too bulky for his pocket, especially when riding his bicycle.

I like the author of this thread am torn between the BB-8900 & G1 or G2. Use it mostly for e-mail and have AOL, but would have no problem with using a Google e-mail for the direct push. Just thought with the added app's on the G1/2 it would give me more to do on the journey home from w...

I personally love the G1. I wear it on my belt with a bodyglove shell and belt clip. I barely notice it. But it is much heavier and bulkier than the blackberries.
We won't know much about the G2 in stores (I'm a retail rep) until shortly before launch. We usually get our demo phones about 5-7 days before launch, so there will be nothing concrete until then. Also, consider the battery life. If it is super important, I would go blackberry. Its not for me. I just love the G1's web browser and apps. The browser smokes the 8900.

Thanks for the info! 🙂 I'm going to try and be patient and check out the new Google phone when it comes out before making a decision on the 8900. I'm just dealing with a phone (BB-flip) that has some issues due to being dropped. Have no Bluetooth at the moment because of it.

Also heard there is another BB down the road, but it's supposed to be a lesser model than the 8900? And it doesn't look like it'll be 3G as well. Saw it on PhoneArena...but as the rep I deal with at another retail T-Mobile store, they can't go by what another website says. He says they usually don't find out when a release of a phone is until they get training on the new phone. I'm sure that's the same for you?

Thanks again!
Chris
