Really, for customer care if it's in streamline they can look it up. For telesales, we're never allowed to give out an ETA for new phones in case they don't launch. But, as an example, when we came out with the web connect laptop stick, it seemed that there were no issues in customers calling my dept to do an exchange and pre order it because (according to the cust) care had told them the release date.

The official policy is that phones are not allowed to be discussed unless an exception is being made for a phone, such as the SK, the G1, or the laptop stick. And there are rules they have to follow for these as well. If the customer asks "what phones are coming out this year" the rep will probably say "a new sidekick." A better question would be "what kind of features will the Nokia "whatever" have?" If the rep has this information and it as already been confirmed and on their list of phones they are allowed to talk about then the rep can answer any questions he/she is able. Reps are never allowed to just make a list of rumored phones. And ETAs are never told either, unless there is a presale, such as the G1 or the new SK. Once a specific d...
