I'm upgrading my phone on Friday but I'm not sure which one to get.I currently have the sidekick slide and i hate it because it turns off by itself and I lose everything for a few hours...and texts that I saved don't come back

The things I don't like about sidekicks is you can't download more than 10 ringtones and you can't just download ringtones from sites like funformobile.
Another thing that isn't too important but I'd like it if the persons ringtone and text messaging ringtone were the same.

I don't know of any phone that allows you to set specific text ringtones for different contacts. If anything, the G1 will have software developed for it allowing you to do it, but as of now, it doesn't.
As for the G1 vs Behold, the main difference is going to be physical keyboard vs touch keyboard. That is primarily personal preference and no one will be able to tell you which one you'll like better.
I say go for the G1 since it has more potential being open source (meaning anyone can develop any program for the phone and make it available to you via the Market). The Behold does have a 5 megapixel camera with flash, and is a lot smaller...

I am sorry but this is incorrect. I have the G1 and I am able to pick a specific ring tone for a specific contact. I have also seen quite a few phones offer this ability as well but can not name a specific example at this time.

Sorry if it wasn't clear before...i was talking about (and I'm pretty sure she was in her original post) about setting contact specific text message notification ringtones. Thats what I was referring to before. Basically all phones T-Mobile offers allows you to set specific ringtones for different contacts when they call.
All phones that I know of allow you to set a set ringtone that is universal for all text messages regardless which contacts send them.
If you know of a way to set a specific text message notification ringtone for the G1 or any other phone...please let me know. From my understanding it can't be done yet.

Yep on the razor it can be done
My gf and my best friend both had razors and if you set a certain ringtone for one person's calls it is also their text message ringtone.

g1 requires data plan, you are going to continue losing your information with sidekicks, your best bet is behold.

I portd to t-mobile about 2 months ago and got the sidekick 08 and loved it. Ive had several phones with the big 4 carriers and love the SK08 the best.
