T-mobile Pearl Question

TyroneMobile

Jul 3, 2008, 8:52 PM
I want to get out of my contract but don't have 200 bucks to do so. Can i simply take off all the services on my phone? It would be like keeping the line there just wouldn't be any service on it.

Spare me the unnecessary backlash if you think this is a dumb question. Thank those who do help in advance.

How much are you spending on your monthly bill? If you want to save $200 quickly, you need to change to the lowest plan T-Mobile offers and remove any add on services. By the way, which company were you going to?

My bill right now is about 84 bucks. I love the plan-what I'm getting is great but I don't have any service in my apt. (moved recently) so I can have all the minutes in the world but it doesn't matter because I can hardly talk when I'm at home.

plus I have had to replace my pearl numerous times because of malfunctions and they refuse to give me a different phone....so I'm thinking about leaving them.

You can add on the hotspot@home service for abotu $10 per month if you get a hotspot@home enabled phone and it will give you unlimited domestic calling anywhere there is a wireless internet connection or hotspot location, so if you have a wireless internet connection in your home, then you will have full signal strenth inside yoru home with this service.

You can also get a hotspot @ home phone, and NOT add the unlimited HS@H 10 bucks a month. It will just use your regular bucket of mins to do this. There is no reason to add on 10 bucks a month if you are never going over your mins...

Also a HS@H phone is good to have b/c if you travel outside the US you can call back to the US for FREE via wifi. =)

If you change you voice plan it will usually make you have at least a 1 year contract. I would suggest calling customer care and ask them if you change your plan will it extend your contract so you dont have to be under contract even longer.

also even if you have the most basic plan with taxes its probably about 32-35 dollars a month if you have over 6 months on your contract you will be paying over 200 dollars anyways anways so in the long run it would be cheaper to cancle now

Thanks for all of the input guys...I really appreciate it. I called them to complain and they are sending someone to test my area. They said once the issue is confirmed then we will go from there.

So once we get passed that then I'll know what I'm up against as far as my options are concerned.

i still can't believe tmobile makes people sign a contract to change rate plans. i hope the fcc or whoever makes this illegal some day. no other carrier does that.

t-mobile does not extend the contract if you want to change your plan. whoever says this doesnt know what they are talking about. the only time you extend your contract is if you upgrade a phone for a discounted price.

If there is less than a year left on the contract, then a price plan change will extend the contract out to 1 year.

T-Mobile has a lot of jacked policies that are left over from yesterday. It boggles my mind how they're able to get the "best customer service" award when they totally f*ck people all the time.

what are you talking about??! out of all studies on wireless industries and what they have done, i think at&t(cingular) is the most shadiest company, they are high priced and has the most complaints. at&t and sprint are the two with bad customer service. but at&t is really shady. t-mobile has some errors but they been doing pretty damn good. customer service and plans.

The reps that work in customer care are great. It's the policies that T-Mobile carries that bother me. Who charges an upgrade fee any more? Why doesn't T-Mobile allow full upgrades prior to 22 months? I worked for Verizon for a long time. I work for T-Mobile now. Having been with the company long enough to get a good idea of their policies in comparison with Verizon's policies, it's a miracle that they continue to get these awards.

i definitly have to agree with you about customer service, i would have to say out of all wireless carriers t-mobile has one of the best customer service so far.. you say you work for t-mobile. i have friends that work for t-mobile and they say there are no contract extensions if you change plans, only when you upgrade which is like every wireless carriers, and the upgrade fees thats all wireless carriers too, sprint, at&t, verizon etc.. well do you like working for t-mobile??

Verizon doesn't charge an upgrade fee. AT&T has one officially, but from what I understand, it's waived most of the time.

Another thing that really irks me is that we can't process warranty exchanges in the store. Not only do we have to ship the phones out, but the customer pays the shipping cost. I understand if you don't want to have a bunch of extra inventory laying around the store, but don't make the customer pay for it. Verizon ships the phones out at no cost to the customer assuming there isn't a corporate location with a FRU in stock.

I like T-Mobile, and working for the company is awesome. I just wish they would update their policies. Like I said, I have no idea how they manage to get awards when they practice policies l...

well at&t doesnt always charges the upgrade fee. the only time if you get the fee waived is if you dont upgrade for long time, my friend who works for at&t now says that if you upgrade exactly on your date then you will pay the fee, the only time you'll get it waived is if your out of contract and completed at least 12 more months without upgrading, like you complete the 24 months plus do another 12 months without upgrading then they'll waive it for you OR you up your plan and add more features. and all warranty is done over mail with at&t too. you pay the shipping also. so really its all the same. i think at&t is shady, even there own workers think there shady. s dont assume just t-mobile that does it, majority companies do it too.

the upgrade fee will apply for all secondary lines, unless the secondary line has a 59.99+ feature on it for use as modem. lines of 69.99+ get the waived upgrade fee after 18 months. (the upgrade fee may be charged if there is poor pay history or if their overall usage out ways what they are paying per month) but that's usually how it is now, well since about last summer anyway.

Huh. Well, thanks for the clarification. In any case, I think it's a sham that people get charged upgrade fees. If anything, raise the cost of your phones $20.

Did you know that if you moved to say Liberal, Kansas where T-MO only has roaming coverage (no home coverage) customer care will cancel your contract at no fee. If you are moving to Liberal, Kansas....go to a cell store there, port your number if you so choose), then when it's complete call T-MO and tell them you had to do so becuase you were moving to an area of no local coverage and they will credit the early term fee.

Now they may have you send in a bill with your new address to verify you moving there.

=)

Is it just me or are there a ton of people doing anything and everything they can to get out of a contract that THEY signed with T-Mobile this month (and I've noticed it with Verizon too)? 😕

Must be iPhad season... 🙄

I'm more excited to see the first Android phone than I am about the iPhone. People just need to get off of Apple's balls for a while. Apple isn't really that great.

Yeah, my Curve does far more than the iPhone does. It just doesn't have a "purdy" little touch screen (but I'm running OS 4.5 beta and it is SWEET! 😎 )

Of course, Android is tempting me hardcore ... 😳
