It is a great service, we got our demo stuff in the store today, makes crystal clear calls. Easy to set up. Should be interesting!

I live in Dallas and have had it for awhile. I resisted using t-mobil's router and that was a mistake. It is free and works perfectly. I even dropped my home line.

Do you have it running to a Dish DVR or a home alarm setup? Is that possible? Do you just plug the phone cord into the wall?

You cannot use DVR, TiVo, alarm systems, or fax with the HiPort. There are other options available though so you can still use those features.

An Alternate option for TiVo is to connect it via broadband internet. Keep in mind the model of your TiVo system determines the solution you can use. For Example you can use a usb to ethernet or usb to wireless.

with satellite tv you can use the same options, or one more option. you can consider keeping your current home phone line, but change the plan the the very basic rate.

As for an alarm system, there are many atlernatives. You can use a cellular connection, VoIP, and broadband service.

Just got off the phone with them yesterday. The fax thing is apparently misunderstood. They told me you can't use fax because the router doesn't have a port for it. Huh?

I told them my fax machine just plugs into my regular telephone line and listens for fax tones. If it hears them, it then receives the fax. They told me that should work just fine then.

What I'd really like to know is if the Caller ID is full name and number, or just the number like on cell phones.

That isn't entirely true. I have had no problems with my dish network.

I'm really thinking about getting this since it'll save me about $40 per month. I've already found out that I CAN use a fax machine despite what they said.

I'd like to know though, is the Caller ID full name and number, or just the number...

full caller id. name and number. a fax will work thru the line? are you sure? we have been having to tell all our customers that want to switch that they would have to convert over to electronic faxing.

Well, when I asked CS about faxing they said "no". When I asked "why", she didn't know. She then put me on hold, came back and said it's because there is no "port" for a fax machine....

I said I don't need a "port". The fax machine I have, and most new one's as well, piggyback on the regular line and simply "listen" for fax tones. If they here them, the machine takes over the line and receives the fax. She put me on hold again, and then came back and said that should work fine.

What won't work with this of course is if I use T-Mobiles voice mail, because my fax machine won't hear the tones of course. You have to use a regular answering machine instead.

But why would I want to use T-Mobiles piece of crap voice mail service? Why would...

T-Mobile Home has potential, unfortunately as for most things, marketing came 👿 up with coping this from Europe, as usual with out thinking.
It is not for their larger customers (5 lines family plan), as you will then have to get rid of one of the established lines to join.
This is not mentioned, and they keep on advertising without thinking.

I would like to join, but not with the cost associated with an additional single line, so until they upgrade their billing software I will sit on the fencehttps://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/foru m.php?fm=m&ff=5&fi=1736965#

The @Home service sucks because people are too stupid to figure it out. Half of the routers that go out of my store get returned because people are idiots. Is it really so hard to take your existing router out and put this one in? Seriously. How do you people survive on a daily basis if you can't figure out this very basic operation that comes with a cute little animated CD-ROM and illustrated instructions?

Idiots.

👿

Sorry. I feel better.
