"Uncaught Exception: Camera Viewfinder Inactive" bb curve 8320

I got this message yesterday when I tried to use the camera to take a snap shot. The first time I tried the phone just froze up when it came up to the viewfinder screen (which was showing nothing but blackness).

I gave it another try and thats when I got the error message. Sometimes I've gotta take the battery out to get the phone to start working again. Ne ideas?

::EDIT:: I posted this messaged in the Blackberry Curve 8320 forum and no one replied so I'm giving it a shot here in the t-mobile forum. PLEASE HELP!

What I would do first is re-download the OS from your service provider and install it over your current phone. This WILL erase everything on your phone, so back it up to your computer first. If reinstalling the OS doesn't fix the issue, it's going to be a hardware problem and you'll need to contact warranty.

This may sound kinda silly.. but did you try to soft reset the handset? Take the batter out and try it again? Most of the time you get errors like that, it is because you have not turned your handset off in days. Like a computer, you need to power cycle your phone every so often or it begins to go slow and give you problems.

First off, thanks for the responses! Secondly, yes I have done a soft reset... a number of times actually. I kept hoping it might resolve the issure randomly but still no luck.

I'm going to download and install the lastes OS. I'm not sure if it goes through an upgrade type process or a total replacement of the OS but should this help resolve the issue?

Try wiping the handheld to. That is something I had to do once. What you do is go to settings or options. Can't remember what it is now. Then go to Security then General then hit the menu button and go to Wipe Handheld. Then you will have to type in blackberry to confirm, and it makes the phone like it was the day it was bought.

Thanks for the wipe handheld idea. I gave it a shot and the problem is still here. My phone is frozen as I type from trying to use the camera. So it's a hardware issue I guess?

This should be covered by my insurance correct?

You should have a 1-year warranty through it. Cool thing about insurance though, you can call them and file a warranty exchange through them. They overnight ship the phone for free, something T-Mobile cant do.
