You obviously aren't very good at your job if you think that a non-myfaves phone is not eligible to use the myfaves service. Do a little more research so that you don't actually mislead customers of yours. T-Mobile is a great company, but uninformed employees like you hinder their good name.

We are trained to say you NEED a myFaves handset, unless there is no other option. We are actually not allowed to activate or convert a plan to myFaves unless you have a myFaves phone.

And I am definitely NOT saying you can't do it. myFaves is networked, meaning as long as it is programmed in t-zones, t-mobile.com or from a myFaves handset they will still work, even when you switch to a non-branded phone.

I'm sorry wombough, but the info you're giving is not accurate.

myFaves will still work, but not in the same way as a myFaves compatable phone. The interface itself to imput your 5 numbers will not show up on your phone, that much is true. You will have to edit your 5 numbers via t-zones or mytmobile.com. As long as the number you are dialing matches one of your 5, the call will still be unlimited.

I know this cuz I used an unlocked k790a and I dialed my 5 the regular way and checked my bill and those calls to my 5 were charged as an unlimited call.

Generally if you talk to t-mobile's customer care, they will tell you the same thing wombough said.
That way they can talk to you about getting a new phone or a t-mobile branded phone.

i called customer service and i was told my phone would work however t-mobile can't guarantee all of myfave calls will be unlimited.

is this true? or just their subtle way wanting me to get a phone?

thanks!

They aren't trying to get to to buy a new phone, but because you don't have the myFaves firmware in your handset, there is a chance that the billing system may not rate your calls as myfaves all or some of the time... If you do decide to use your unlocked handset, they won't be able to credit your for the calls even if they are for your myfaves calls because you would be using an "unapproved" phone.

My Suggestion is just get a cheap t-mobile phone to use in case you do run into the issue, then you can always use that one if you have to.

I'm calling BS on that.

They're way of checking the myfaves has nothing to do with the device itself. It's outbound and inbound calls.

They'll try to get you to get a myfaves phone, of course. And telling you they "can't guarentee" that it'll work is another way to get you on thier phones.

Just watch your bill, you'll be fine. If not, then get a myfaves phone, so they don't cry about it.

Tmobile designed it to work with the software on your phone. As they did with their hotspot@home. You can't jsut use any tmobile phone unlike what sprint is coming out with airave which can be used by any CDMA phone. When it first came out they said that and it may be true.

Dude you can, it is designed for easy management with the software on your phone. I had a MyFaves phone that messed up and i had to go get a loaner phone from the corporate store. I was Using the following phone:

https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=45 »

and T-Mobile still billed everything according to my plan. Its not the phone its the numbers, Make sure they MyFaves numbers set up on a MyFaves phone, then save to the Sim and switch, The numbers are saved to the Sim with the MyFaves icon. It will work.

Ya it 100% works, the billing system doesnt mess up. What happened was people were entering myfaves online and inverting numbers. Now since people were not seeing the myfaves numbers when they called them, they werent noticing it was wrong until they got a huge bill.

Last year I probably had around 100 people use myfaves without a myfaves phone, not one has come back with billing issues, however I explicitly exressed the importance of triple checking what numbers they put in online.

my corp t-mobile head honcho confirmed that you don't need a Myfavs phone. but it makes dialing your myfavs easier.

Just because I've seen you say this before, i want to clear this up.

Myfavs is NOT like the Hotspots@home.

The H@H phones need a chip to be able to pick up the hotspot, which is UMA. thats Hardware.

Myfaves is a program that gives you easy access to five numbers of you choice and through the system makes those calls unlimited. thats Software.

Big difference.

You can totally use the nonfaves phone with the plan. You can manage it online, call customer care to have them change it, or go into a corporate t-mobile store. They are told that it will not work, but everyone knows that it will...
