Dudestorm

so i used to have a dash, then the screen got cracked, but at the time i was broke and couldn't afford the deductable for the insurance, and now its past 30 days and i can't file a claim(actually i tried, but got denied) and what i wanna know, is there any tricky t-mobile witch craft that can get me a phone comparable to the dash without paying full price, because them things are expensive if you're not a new customer.

help? please?

Before I start I don't want to hear any S&^% from anyone who says this is wrong.... It's not wrong becuase T-Mo sets the fee they charge for this, so why not use it.

Ok... now I can begin....

So what you want to do is call customer care and tell them your 2 button stopped working. It won'w work at all. They will try to diagnose it. Just keep teling them it won't work no mateer what they tell you to try.

So at that point they will set up a handset exchange. They will then proceeded to tell you that if the phone has any damage (liquid or otherwise) that they will charge you $80. (At least it used to be $80....) They WILL tell you what the fee is. They are required to. So I think that beats buying a new phone at full price. =)

They caught on, now a rep from the store you purchased the phone from is required to call in to cancel the service.

aside from the moral issues, which i realize are impossible to argue to you, there are a couple of things incorrect with your statement.

1) if they find anything wrong with the phone that is not covered by warranty, they will charge you the full invoice pricing for the device, or at least 110 dollars.

2) you now can ONLY cancel a line by bringing the phone back into the store and having the rep call in to deactivate, because too many of the people were doing exactly what you said. i can tell you that i personally have had that done to me by a customer, called in and had them charged for the full price of the phone and made sure that it stuck. that is taking money away from me, and i dont take that lightly. i am an srsr at a corporate s...

When I was an indirect chain owner, it was 80 bucks to fix a busted LCD if it came in that way under warranty.... and I believe that I said it exactly that way.... meaning it may have changed....

P.S. On the churn issue.... there are ways around everything.... If someone is smart, or dumb enough, all they have to do is call in as you with your dealer code that is listed on the contract and tell them the phone has been returned. =) It's basically fraud, but I have seen it done soooo many times.

that is the kind of scumbag response i would expect from an indirect dealer, "ways around everything" has another meaning, cheating, which also means stealing. it is not BASICALLY fraud, it IS fraud. who do you think is effected by that? the reps, through lower pay incentives. you think upper management is taking a paycut to pay for that? if you've seen it done soooo many times, it is only because it is you and your team that is doing it, or telling others how to. and the excuse "everyone else is doing it" hasn't been valid since your mother asked you "if everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you?" But that is exactly the level of maturity i have come to expect from a response like yours.

also you need to know the rep's first name (easy) and first initial of Last Name. also need the store number and transaction number of the return receipt.

i can't believe what you're saying on your #1 speech.... if you do troubleshooting and you tell them it still does not work after troubleshooting, they will get you an exchange... you will not be charged anything if the phone is returned in well condition (no liquid damage, physical damage). even if t-mobile gets it and they find out you were lying and the keys really do work... as long as it is in working conditions you will not be charged anything!!!! the only thing they do is send you a new or "like new" device, and if yours works perfectly they will use yours to send it to someone else!!!!! duh!!!! 😎

all I was doing was providing info on how TMO handset exchanges work. In his case he had a boken LCD.

And...yes... If your two buttone doesn't work they won't charge you anything to replace it if you are under the 1yr period. Why would anyone do a handset exchange if they didn't need it? DUH to you....lol

And..yes... they will charge you a fee if it has damage..... I just don't know what those current fees are for water or LCD damage. I told them to call in to find out.

i will use small words so that you can understand: the FIRST THING he said was that the lcd screen was broken. after that, nothing else matters. they wont say "the screen is cracked, but he said the button sticks, so he can have the phone replaced for free" try that with your car some time: smash it up, then go in and tell them the windshield wipers werent working so you would like them replaced under warranty; see what kind of response you get.

I know what he said.... and I guarantee you my overall knowledge of this industry FAR outweighs yours....

So that being said....

Back in 2005 if you called T-Mobile and had a non-functional handset they would do a warraty exchange on it. The rep from TMO would also state that if it had an cracked or broken lcd, water, and/or physical damage it would be an 80 charge to your account.

I simply stated that is what they did back then. I told him to ask what the charge for a cracked or broken LCD is now. Back then TMO would take the phone and repair it for a cost. They would also send you a new one before you sent yours in..... thus being a handset exchange.

i wasnt talking to you, moron, not in this exchange. if you want to see how i responded to your suggestions of fraud, look up a couple of exchanges, and by the way, he wasnt asking what he should do if he broke his phone in 2005, but today in the present.

Well the only reason I replied to his post is becuause it sat there for a while and no one gave the poster any info at all. I simply gave the info I had to help someone.

That is what I effin hate about this forum... There are so many here quick to belittle someone, but not to take 2 mins to help them.

That's why I tried..... and guess what... I got jumped on for it.... I guess I will take my relevant info somewhere else..... you know like the info on how to hack a smartphone for skype before anyone else could. Then I took the time to do a wrote up and even host the files for people.... or how I still get emails 3 years later asking for the firmware to make a TMO a630 into a Cingular branded one, even though Cingy never came out with i...

Please, take your info somewhere else. The last thing we need is someone else trying to cheat the system, tell people to activate fraud, and overall act like a Jackass. Look, wireless is a BUSINESS, just like any other business if you do shady stuff PRICES GO UP! Phone prices, accessories, services, everything goes up. The only people you're really taking advantge of when you advise someone to cheat the system with your "two cents" of steamy horse crap are yourself and everyone else that has a cell phone, including me. So please stop!

about a year ago my husband and I were hit by sum rain---well one days later his cell phone started acting crazy. Calling people by itself, turning on and off.we decided to buy new phone since we didnt have any upgrades available, but his identical phone cost 300! Then we decided to call tmobile to see what we could do. They did sum trouble shooting. they told us to open the back of the phone to see what color the sticker was. It was white not red, which indicated no water damage. It was still before the 1 year warranty was up. So they did an exchange and told us that if there was indeed water damage or cracked it would be a 100 dollor fee.

i was pretty sure it was water damage because i couldn't be tht big of a coincidence that the p...
