Hey is it possible for me to buy a phone at the full price at a corp store? I dont have service with T-mobile, but my girlfriend does. I have the Mogul on Sprint and shes always hinting how she wishes she could have it, and i found out T-mo has the Wing which is real real similar. I went in to a retail store, and they said i cant do it. They said they need her telephone number to get her a better deal, but i dont want to re-new her contract which is why i wanted it at the full price. Her B-day is coming up in a week and a half, so i want to get it for her. So please guys, help me out, IS IT possible?! All i want to do is buy the Wing at the retail price so that way i dont re-new her contract. So yeah sorry its a long post, but can I buy that...

They might not since you are not a customer. Unless they let you buy the Wing on prepaid, but that is expensive. You might want to check ebay.

You can "upgrade" on her line without extending her contract. You'll pay the retail price while not extending it and it's actually better that way cause the phone will be registered under her account and if there's ever a problem with it, she won't have to go through the manufacturer to have it replaced while it's under warranty.

I'd buy it under her account...

He's right, you can buy it at full retail under her account without extending her contract. Be adamant. 🙂

In order to do that you would need to be able to verify the last 4 of her ssn and be listed as an autorized user on the account. If you cannot verify or are not listed, then you cannot purchase any phone, whether it be full retail or discounted price under her account. I work in a corporate tmobile store in Florida.

Not "under her account " if he is not the account holder or authorized user but sny person can purchase our equipment with or without an account.

NO WE DO NOT MAKE COMMISSION OFF ANY NON-CONTRACTED PHONE PURCHASE.... but we are still happy to do it.

We DO however HAVE to have the phone purchased under your GFs account... its for your sake, we need to attach the IMEI (serial Number) to her account so that the warranty ca be verified, and going into the account, existing customers sometimes DO get a small ($20) discount of full invoice.

p.s.
Since FlexPay all corporate stores have to sell phone full price if some opts to do a non-comtracted monthly plan. So you are able to buy the phone.

Hey guys thanks! Just oooooone more question. Is there a way she can tell that i bought it? Cuz i wanna make it a surprise. But what am i gonna need? Do i need to provide a password or anything like that to put it on her account? cuz damn, ya know if i do need an account password or if i have to be an authorized user, i dunno how to ask her for a password without it spoiling the surprise know what i mean? But i appreciate it sooooooooooooo much every single reply. You guys dont even know, once again thanks!

Oh, yeah. You may not be able to do it without her authorization. If you know her last four of social, they might do it though since you're not really making any changes to her account or looking for any information or extending her contract. What you'd be doing buying her a phone at full price without extending her contract and attaching the IMEI number onto her account for warranty purposes.

I don't see why they wouldn't do that for you... but even if they don't, you can always call customer care and raise a stink about warranty stuff and chances are that if you're cool and make valid points and told them the situation, they'd take care of warranty fees if there's ever a problem.

to purchase the wing in the store you would need to be listed as an authorized user, and show photo id. t-mobile, as i tell my customers, does not sell phones, they resell them after purchasing them from the manufacturers. any phone that you purchase has to be activated on an existing account or as part of the activation process on a new account. no reputable t-mobile corporate employee will sell the phone to you without meeting these conditions. if you are authorized to access the account, you can purchase the phone at full invoice price without extending the contract

Hey Yensid71, thanks for your input. Its appreciated trust me. I went in today, and it was pretty slow in the store so i was in there for about an hour talkin to the guy, he said "every department has rules, and to help out a customer every once in a while the rules can be broken" I would imagine he was referring to what you just spoke about. I dont wanna do it if it puts him in trouble, I dont mind doing it the honest way. I appreciate your replies guys once again thanks 😉

Yeah, that's kinda funny. Company "policy".

I've never worked for a company who didn't have one.

These are the rules. We never stray from the rules.

Never.

NEVER EVER.

Of course, if it's going to help the customer out or make them happy, we'd be more than happy to break them.

I hate (hate is a strong word, but I really really really don't like them) the reps who act like because it says this or that in the policy book (or Streamline), they can't give those 50 free bonus text messages. Then you call back and the next rep is MORE THAN HAPPY to help out with 50 free bonus text messages.

Anyone else think that T-Mobile's customer care is taking a turn for the worse? I mean, reps who don't know what they're talking about a...

Actually, you do make commission on the phone if he just wants to purchase the phone at full price with no account attached to it. Which every customer has a right to do (as it states in the return policy that you have 30 days to return the phone instead of 14 if the phone was not activated or bought for a specific account). That is also how someone can purchase a phone at full price and have it unlocked immediately because they paid full price (they must just fax in a copy of the full price receipt).

When you ring the phone out at full price attached to no customer you do get paid out commission for it.

in our market at least (and we have recieved several sternly worded e-mails to that effect), we are under no circumstances to sell a phone without going through an account, as stated before, we sell phone service, not phones; we resell phones purchased from manufacturers. we do get commission on phones sold at invoice price, but we have to go through an account and you have to be an authorized user with a valid, state-issued photo id. i'd love to get the extra commission, but i prefer to keep my job. t-mobile actually recently decreased the full invoice pricing 30-50 dollars in most cases to make it easier for t-mobile customers to purchase phones if the don't have an upgrade available to them

Yes, any phone can be purchased at a corporate store witout a contract or extension thereof. In addition there ought to be a posted collateral or policy stating " Activation of any telephone is not required, and the sale of any telephone is not contingent upon activation, acceptance or denial of service by any provider". The invoice price of the Wing is currently 499.99 and will be sold to any customer whether they have T-Mobile service or not. Corporate store personnel wear either grey or magenta T-Mobile logo button up shirts and T-Mobile name tags.

you don't need to have an account to buy a phone from a corporate store...i have been working for corporate for nearly 3 years now...just ring it up thru pos and put the guys name from his id just in case he wants to return it, and no you don't have to go thru the account to register the imei for warranty purposes...what noobs...when she puts her sim card in there it will register after being used, the warranty goes off the original user...think im wrong thats why when you do an upgrade on somebodies account that has multiple numbers and you try to see which line has the biggest discount it doesn't matter which one you use because it goes off the original user, so even if you upgrade on another line on the account it will follow the line in ...

Know what knight? That makes sense.

My girlfriend bought me a new phone thru HER account once and I used it on MY account (she never used the phone). Had to do a warranty exchange on it and the phone was under warranty on MY account. Never had a problem with an out of warranty fee or even a "lemme put you on hold cause it shows that the phone is not under warranty". I was expecting to have to explain to cust care why it wouldn't be under warranty on my account and that we should do the exchange on her account but it was never a problem!

True that usually seems to be the case, always registering the IMEI on the account is a FOR SURE way. i have sold many, many invoice phones and have no problems with registering them, but there have been instances where no warranty shows up. so i might just have the bad luck side of the whole thing, but to be sure i will always register the IMEI.

also when upgrading on accounts with mulitiple lines... true the IMEI will register to the phone used, even if you do not register the IMEI but everytime someone does that to submit the Mail-In rebate, it is rejected because the phone was not "eligible" for upgrade. EVERY TIME.

but whatever... i do not really have many problems with it anyway, it is not the biggest issuse. bottome line, just k...
