I went to a T-Mobile today to help my girlfriend get a new phone, and when I was there, she really wanted to get the Dash. Right when we were about to purchase the phone, the lady is like, "Oh, and it's required to buy the data plan when you buy the phone because we notice that the return rate is much lower when the customer has it!" So we say f*ck it, I know we dont need to buy that in order to "enjoy" the phone seeing as I have an SDA, and they are the same phone minus the WM6, QWERTY keyboard and wireless G wifi.

So then, I go to another T-Mobile store, and the first question I ask is "do you need the data plan to purchase the phone?", and this gentleman tells me "no". So as we're about to buy it again, and this is my reason for the po...

What phone did she get instead? was it a corporate store? or an indirect dealer? was it an activation or upgrade, and 20 bucks more a month to get full use of the dash isnt bad at all when you look at all the other carriers plans. if your gonna just use it as a texting phone, get the sidekick id, if not wait for the blast to come out, it has the keyboard like the pearl, but its a slider. The people you spoke to were just trying to maximize there profits, i dont like selling a pda if it isnt going to be used the way it is ment to, its waisting my inventory. thats just my opinion though.

It's $30 more a month to use the Dash. You're thinking of Blackberry, which is $20 more a month.

I agree about the representatives just wanting to pad their pockets with that data plan. But instead she got a Nokia 6126 which is actually a pretty cool phone.

However, I dont agree about not being able to use the phone to it's full use W/O the data. Like I mentioned, I have the SDA, and dont use a data plan, and the sheer amount of features on my phone, and the apps that I can install on my phone make it more than enjoyable for me. The Dash would only add to that because it has the landscape screen which is a huge plus for the phone.

I do appreciate the responses though. Oh when you get the BB plan on a Win device, dont you just have to change your phone on the T-Mobile website, and/or call cust. service?
