My friend are you asking can you roam for free in other countries. I truly hope you are not asking that. If you are please do some homework on cell phones as you really need to know what your getting into!

You should have coverage in Europe, no problem. You'll just need to go to the T-Mobile store to get a different sim card before you leave. If you have a phone that's unlocked, you can use that anywhere in the world that the phone lets you.

That's not correct. The sim card that is given to him at activation will have international roaming capabilities but he will have to call in or go online to add the roaming feature. T-Mobile does have roaming agreements with other GSM carriers throughout the USA and roaming on those networks is free of charge with any nationwide rate plan.

There's a better way to do it. T-Mobile can unlock your phone for you so you can use any SIM card anywhere in the world. Call T-Mobile and ask them to unlock your phone. It's free. You need to purchase a SIM card in the country you are going to and just pop it into the slot. It will work. You need to pay for the card but depending on the country you are going to, it should be either extremely dirt cheap or vice versa and it's a hell of a lot easier than doing it here in the states.

Internationally, and nationally, only 1 cell phone company has the largest coverage capabilities. With Sprint, you can get a quad band phone, and be able to have high speed access capabilies in the states, and still talk anywhere in the world where gsm is available. Nationwide, Sprint has more Partnership agreements covering more people than Verizon, Tmobile, and Cingular (or at&t or whatever they are calling themselves today.) If you're looking for coverage, go to Sprint.

T-Mobile is supposed to be pretty good up in the New England portion of the Northeast. I know a number of people up there that are happy with their t-mobile service. I think it's worth taking a shot with them! Trial it and if it doesn't work, bring it back within the return window.

Yeah, I suppose that I should take the plunge. I really like the DASH a lot (I understand that in Europe you by phones from retailers and then deal with service providers separately). If Motorola updated the Q (Wi-Fi, etc.), I would probably tough it out with VZW.

If I go through the trial and switch back, I assume that I can take my number there and back with no problem.

You're better off porting after activation. Just get a new number and if you like T-Mobile, call up customer service and tell them you want to port your number over to that line.

T-Mobile will roam on At&t in certain areas, but don't expect it to follow through everywhere ATT gets coverage. I was up in the Pocanos and my T-mobile phone showed ATT was available, but it wouldn't let me connect to it.

what didn't' you understand? Your statement tells the poster that verizon out of all the other carriers just happens to have a tower closest to you house. What does that mean for anyone else. I'm just saying that Verizon's coverage isn't completely as good as people sware that it is (in certain parts of the Phoenix Metro area). No need to be a dick about it. And I don't even remember asking for your opinion in the first place.

Voicestream, bellsouthDCS, Bell mobility, Powertel(were on that!)Sprint, Verizon, Tmobile, Alltel, Cingular, ATT (old One) celluar one (in NJ). I can add a few more. I have had a mobile phone since the bag days in say around 1991 or 92.

And you cant coment on your experiance unless you live and will use your phone were the poster will. Like I said its all about location when it comes to mobile phones. Tmobile may be the best coverage in city X. But in Y verizon is and Z sprint is. So jsut because you use both doesnt' mean you can comment on coverage unless you taval everywere and test it yourself. What I go by is maps and other readings I do on the wireless indusrty. And put it out there...

One more thing I had Voicestream (Tmobile) when they first started out in 1996 or 97 cant remember the excact month in Hawaii! They were the first digital GSM carrier there. They started out in the west coast and hawaii. Oh yeah I have had honolulu celluar too I forgot. Anyway my experiance is vast and my knowledge of reading about it is as vast! Of course I am wrong from time to time!
